GIANLUCA BREDA Verdi Bass Gianluca Breda has been praised world wide for his powerful Verdi Bass voice and commanding stage presence. This Season, he debuted the title role of Attila in Brescia in concert version and Oroveso in Norma. He was also heard as Sparafucile in Rigoletto in Mantova and Sarastro in the Magic Flute in Madrid. This coming 2010 he will sing Zaccaria in Nabuco in Lyon, France and Forza del Destino as the Padre Guardiano in Mantova. After receiving is diploma in Cello from the A. Boito Conservatory in Parma, Gianluca discovered his voice and love for opera. He continued at the conservatory and received his vocal degree. He then went on to win the vocal competition in Dijon, France where he would live and sing countless roles for the next five years in important theaters such as, the Chatelet in Paris, and in Bordeaux and Lione. In Italy, he has performed in numerous theaters including: The King in Verdi's Aida in the Arena di Verona, "Aida" as Ramfis in Rovingo, Livorno, Pisa, and Pavia, "Un Ballo in Maschera" as Sammuel at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, Lucca and Brescia, "Nabucco" as Zaccaria in Rovigo, Bolzano and Pisa. Some of his many other roles performed include: Falstaff as Pistola, Teatro Manuel in Malta, Simon Boccanegra as Fiesco in Dijon, Rigoletto as Sparafucile in Dijon, La Boheme as Colline in Mantova, Don Carlo as L'Inquisitore in Paris and Piacenza, Trovatore as Ferrando in Dijon, Don Giovanni as Il Commendatore in Sofia, and Dijon, Carmen as Zuniga in Jesi, Fermo, Treviso, Madame Butterfly as Lo Zio Bonzo in Dijon, La Forza del Destino as Il Marchese di Calatrava in Dijon, La Clemenza di Tito as Pubblius in Dijon. Other works include L'Opera d'Arane di G.Becaud, Le Cure et l'homme a l'harpe in Dijon. Rigoletto as Monterone in Macerata, Otello as Lodovico in Dijon and The little Sweep by Britten as Maestro di musica, Bob and Tom in Trapani. He was also heard in Seoul South Korea as Timur in Turendot along with Giovanna Casolla, and "Barbiere di Siviglia" as Basilio in Mombay, New Delhi. Most recently, he sang in Turandot in the Caracalla in Rome, Zuniga in Carmen in the opera theater of Rome and Also in Verona, he was heard as Angelotti in Tosca in the Teatro Filarmonico debuted with Nicola Martenucci and as Don Magnifico in "Cenerentola", which received outstanding reviews.
