Conservation on the Ground – South Alabama District Land Judging 2006 Competition by Bridget Cain, District Administrative Coordinator, Conecuh County Soil and Water Conservation District The South Alabama District Land Judging Competition held the 2006 event on the property of Mr. Ronnie Brogden, Conecuh County School Superintendent, on March 2, 2006. McKenzie High School hosted the st competition with Donnie 1 place - Leroy High School, Goneke as the coordinator. A Washington County special recognition is due to both Mr. Brogden for his willingness to provide a location for the event and to Mr. Hugh Barrow and the county commission for providing the necessary equipment to prepare the competition site. Thanks to the cooperation of several NRCS and District employees, the day went smoothly and seemed to be enjoyed by all of the students. The Conecuh County Soil and Water Conservation District graciously provided drinks and refreshments for everyone. The competition involved 11 teams from the southern part of Alabama. The four teams with the highest scores will advance to State Competition. Those teams are: 1st place - Leroy High School, Washington County; 2nd place - Jackson High School, Clarke County; 3rd place - North Baldwin High, Baldwin County and 4th place - Charles Henderson, Pike County.
