2011 Eastern Region Basketball Tournament Guidelines
TO: Principals, Athletic Directors, and Basketball Coaches

FROM: T. Daughtrey, Chairman
                T. Benjamin Polk, Director

The following guidelines have been approved by the Eastern Regional Council for a Sixteen Team Tournament:

DETERMINING TEAMS FROM DISTRICTS

1. The regular season champion is the number one seed and the tournament champion or runner-up, if the regular
season champion wins the tournament, is the number two seed.

2. The semifinal losers in the district tournament will be seeded number three and number four according to the
way they were seeded in the district tournament. If the number one seed is a semifinal loser, then the loser of
the district championship game becomes the number three seed.

3. In an eight team district tournament, if the regular season champion loses in the quarterfinals, then the highest
seeded semifinal loser becomes the fourth seed from that district.

FIRST ROUND GAMES – Monday, February 21, 2011

The highest seeded boys and girls teams in each district will host a game. The number two seed boys will be paired
with the number one seed girls team for a doubleheader. The number two seed girls team will be paired with
number one seed boys for a doubleheader. The highest seeded team will play the second game of the
doubleheader.

EXCEPTION: If both the girls and boys number one seed are from the same school, they will be paired together for a
doubleheader with the boys game being the second game. The remaining two teams would host single games.
