Position Announcement                                   Family Café Coordinator

Position Summary

The Family Café Coordinator is responsible for the daily tasks related to the Family Café
component of the WVSU SEMAA program. The Coordinator will implement and coordinate
the delivery of Family Café initiatives, as well as collaborate with the Site Director and AEL
Coordinator to insure the effective delivery of the WVSU SEMAA programmatic efforts. The
Coordinator is responsible for coordinating several SEMAA activities, including the Family
Focus Groups, Family Nights, and Home-Based Family Initiatives.

Program Delivery and Outreach                                                   75%

Develops and implements Family Café programs utilizing the NASA SEMAA educational and
curricular resource materials.

Collaborates and consults with the SEMAA Site Director, AEL Coordinator, classroom
instructors and National SEMAA Office to determine educational needs and to ascertain
feasibility of proposed programs.

Consults with the National SEMAA Office and other experts in the STEM fields to develop
academic objectives, scope and content for specific SEMAA programs

Meet with academic and administrative personnel to disseminate information regarding
program objectives and to ensure that program goals are met

Review programmatic data and evaluations to insure that objectives are being met

Oversee all program activities associated with the Family Café

Organize special events and training sessions

Participate in relevant conferences and meeting
Office and Data Management                                                20%

Collect and maintain required demographic and statistical data about Family Café Participants

E-mail and telephone communication with internal and external customers

Perform technical data entry using Microsoft Word, Excel and other software tools

Perform research and/or investigations using the Internet and prepare reports as needed

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

Education and/or Experience

A bachelor’s degree in education, social work or a closely related field 1-3 years experience is
required. A master’s degree is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and
correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
of organization. Also required are excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
and the ability to edit documents and correspondence.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
and the ability to access and use the World Wide Web, experience in completing online
research, write reports, prepare business correspondence and procedural manuals.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands
to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands
and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move
up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
