      The Greek theatre
 The Greek theatre history began with
  festivals honoring their gods.
 Dionysus was honored by a festival at the
  City Dionysia
           Theatre types
 The three types of plays at the Greek
  theatre were drama, comedy, and satyr.
 These are examples of the masks for the
  play types.
         Athenian theatre
 The Athenian theatre focused on the god
  Dionysus.
 Dionysus was the god of Fertility, wine,
  and agriculture.
           Greek Comedy
 Athenian comedy was split into old
  comedy middle comedy and new comedy.
 The middle comedy is largely lost, aside
  from a few pieces of it.
             Greek Tragedy
   A form of art based on human suffering
    for the audiences pleasure and
    entertainment.
               Greek Satyr
   Satyr plays were based on pranks, gags,
    and merriment.

             and Goddesses
 Zeus-King of the gods and God of
  lightning.
 Dionysus-God of wine.
 Hera-Queen of the Gods and Goddess of
  marriage.
 Aphrodite-Goddess of love.
 Ares-God of war.
 Hermes-Messenger of the Gods.

 Athena-Goddess of war and knowledge.
 Hephaestus-Smith of the Gods and the
  God of fire.
 Hades-God of the Underworld.
