After a week of completely rewriting the University of Florida record books, the UF women’s swimming and
diving team finished second at the conclusion of the 2011 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving
Championships at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. The Florida women (678 points) fell
just short of the University of Georgia (720). Hosting the meet for the first time since 2005, the Gators brought
home their fair share of medals and records. The Gator women ended the meet with four conference titles, one
SEC record set and three school records broken. The Orange and Blue also posted eight NCAA automatic marks

University of Florida senior diver Monica Dodson (Franklin, Ind.), the only senior on the UF women’s squad,
broke both three-meter and platform SEC diving record this past weekend at the 2011 SEC Diving Champion-
ships at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. For her efforts this weekend, Dodson was named the 2010-11 SEC
Women’s Diver of the Year, joining last year’s winner Kara Salamone as the only Gators to ever win the award.
In addition to Dodson’s honor, Craine was named the SEC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year for the third time
in his career, tying for the second-highest total in league history. Dodson is the only diver in school history to
capture both the women’s platform and three-meter event, while joining LSU’s Kelly Hill (1990 and 1991) and
Susie Ryan (1994) as the only divers in league history to win both events at the same SEC Championship meet.
The senior captured the conference record in the platform event by breaking Salamone’s 2010 mark of 324.45.
The two former teammates are the first pair of divers from the same school to bring home the platform title in
back-to-back years since Kentucky’s Kari Retrum and Taryn Ignacio in 2004 and 2005.

Florida head coach Gregg Troy was the head coach for the men’s United
States Pan Pacific Swim Team and helped lead former Gator legend Ryan Lochte
and Team USA to the top of the overall standings in the year’s biggest
international meet.
         Lochte’s gold-medal time of 1:54.43 in the 200 IM was the third-fastest
time in history, as well as a meet record and the fastest time in the world in 2010.
His times in the 200 free (1:45.30) and 200 back (1:54.12) were also the fastest in
the world this year.
Teresa Crippen broke her own school record by swimming the 200 fly in
2:06.93. The junior previously set the school record 13-days earlier at U.S.
Nationals, but fell just three-tenths of a second short against gold-medal winner
Jessi Schipper of Australia at Pan Pacs.
Lochte and Beisel broke the meet record in the same event on back-to-
back days, breaking the 400 IM meet record on the men’s and women’s side on
Aug. 19, and setting the meet record in the men’s and women’s 200 back on Aug.
