Driving is a privilege not a right!!!
Reasons to lose your license:
 Failure to pay surcharges
 Failure to appear in court or pay fines
 Driving while suspended
 Failure to provide proof of insurance
 Physical or mental disqualification
 Drug or alcohol use
 Repeated traffic law violations
 At fault in a fatal accident
 Failure to respond to and MVC notice
Underage Drinking and Driving


   Motorists under 21 found with a blood alcohol
    concentration above .01 while operating a
    motor vehicle will be penalized.
21 and over .08-.10
   3 month suspension
   $250-400 fine
   12-48 hours in IDRC
   Up to 30 days in jail
   $230 per day IDRC fee
   $100 Drunk Driving Fund Fee
   $100 Alcohol Education, Rehab, and Enforcement
    Fund Fee
   $1000 annual surcharge for three years
   $75 Safe Neighborhood Service Fund Fee
   Possible interlock device 6 months – 1 year
Over 21 .10 or more
   7month- 1 year suspension
   $300-$500 fine
   12-48 hours in IDRC
   Up to 30 days in jail
   $230 per day IDRC fee

Driver Programs

   Notice of Scheduled Suspension
    –   12-14 points in more than two years
    –   You can:
            Attend a NJ driver improvement program
               – Cost $100
               – Three points off of your license
            Ask for a hearing
            Turn in your license for the suspension period
Probationary Driver Program

   Two years after receiving your permit
   Two or more moving violations totaling more
    than four points.
   Cost $100
   To correct improper or dangerous driving
    practices
Driver License Restoration

   After a driver license is restored you will be on
    probation for one year.

   Any violation during this time will result in a
    proposed license suspension.
Surcharges and Point Values



   Accumulating 6 or more points within three
    years: $150 surcharge and $25 for each
