					             Drama & Acquisitions Runner Apprentice, BBC Children’s Drama
ROLE TITLE

LOCATION     Salford Quays/on location with relevant drama production (s)
             N.B. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE ROLE ON LOCATION, THE SUCCESSFUL
             CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE

PAY          Pay: £11.1K per annum for 18+ yrs old. This position is only open to those
             who are 18 years of age and over.

REPORTS TO   Unit Manager, Children’s Drama & Acquisitions

ABOUT THE    CBBC is the most-loved and most-watched channel of children in its target age
DEPARTMENT   group. Almost a third of children (6-12) consider it one of their favourites and over
             a third tune into the CBBC channel each week.

             CBBC aims to encourage children to find out more about existing interests and
             inspire them to develop new ones; helps them understand the world around them
             and provides an entertaining watch when they just want to relax.

             The majority of our output is UK-made, reflecting children’s lives in the UK today.
             Popular programmes on the channel include Horrible Histories, Deadly 60, The
             Sarah Jane Adventures and Tracy Beaker Returns as well as long-running
             favourites Blue Peter and Newsround.

AIM OF THE   This is a unique opportunity for anyone specifically interested in both Drama
ROLE         production & Drama acquisitions because this will give experience in both areas
             with the successful candidate being able to specify which aspect of drama they’re
             particularly interested – scripts/make up/sound etc but this will be coupled with
             experience in the drama acquisitions area too as dramas are not in production all
             year round.

             The Drama and Acquisitions runner / will provide accurate, effective and timely
             office support to the drama and acqusitions team which will include some
             secretarial and clerical duties, as well as more creative tasks such helping set up
             film shoots and contributing your ideas.

ROLE TITLE

WHAT YOU’LL BE   Over the course of your apprenticeship you will build your skills and knowledge to
DOING            be able to successfully:

                 ACQUISITIONS:

                     Provide admin support to the drama and acquisitions team
                     Assist with reading of proposals sent to the acquisitions team
                     Assist in tracking of proposals
                     Assist in the creations and maintenance of databases
                     Maintaining a tape library and logging of all incoming tapes as required.
                     Taking phone messages and dealing with general enquiries
                     Offering general office support wherever and whenever it is needed.
                     Undertake general office duties including logging material, photocopying,
                       answering telephones and filing
                     Act as a first point of contact for a range of both internal and external callers
                       and visitors ensuring that these are given a positive image of the BBC and
                       the department.
                     Support diversity in every aspect of the production(s).
                     Maintain a safe and healthy working environment at all times, escalating any
                       issues or areas of concern

                 DRAMA PRODUCTION

                     To assist in pre-production in chosen discipline (sound, make-up, wardrobe
                       etc)
                     To assist on location in chosen discipline
                     To offer general support on location as and when required
                     To assist in movement of people props between locations
