The festivities start at 11:30am Students should (If you have a portable canopy, arrive at 6:15pm please bring it!) May 26, 2009 Newsletter for the School Community, Goodbye Princes and Princesses This year, I had the opportunity, once again, to teach a class, to share an hour a day with most of the graduating students. It has been a blessing for me to get to know them all closely, all of these princes and princesses: being able to know their personalities, their dreams, and their wishes; to have the opportunity to listen to them and share with them stories, lessons and experiences. We shared more than an Algebra II class: I think we shared all the richness of each individual’s personality, the frustrations, the victories, the moods and unique ways of thinking of those students. As I look back, and it seems like just yesterday that we had our first class, or had the first complaint about “not getting Algebra”, or just trying to ask me something to change the class into a conversation, an interesting conversation, but that had nothing to do with the class itself. Because of those conversations, we were able to do many things, and to get to know ourselves, more deeply. There were many things we did this year together, in the class, in my office, and around the school. I am sure you will remember for a while the shamrock that we “all” did “together”. But, the lesson we will never forget is going to 2nd grade to teach those students how to do double digit additions. Dear Morgan, Liam, Anthony, Eleanor, Ciara, Bailey, Tommy, and Kaytlin, God be with you. You all will be in my heart forever. Incoming Kindergarten Parent Meeting This coming Monday, June 1, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, our Kindergarten program will be open to parents to drop by and meet our wonderful teachers, to have the opportunity to touch base with them and talk about the daily routines, the activities, the methodology used, etc. If you are an incoming Kindergarten Parent, this meeting is for you. Don’t miss an important start of your child’s class. Your participation is requested. 8th Grade Graduation Awards Almost two months ago the Award for the Graduating Class Policy was developed and delivered to all 8th grade students and parents for their knowledge.
