Thoughts From Our Executive Director . . .
Our November 2007 newsletter addressed myths about hospice care that were
circulating in our community, myths that are still circulating today. There is no
specific age limit for hospice care, no restrictions regarding illness and no financial
Brenda Watts
barriers. Hospice care is for all who meet the eligibility criteria regardless of age,
disease or personal financial situations. Over the five years that Red Deer Hospice has been open we
have cared for individuals from age 35 to 102 with varied health issues and from various financial
situations; care is not only for the individual who is dying but for their loved ones as well. So again,
as we requested in 2007, we are asking you our supporters and readers of our newsletter, to continue
as Ambassadors for Hospice. As accurate information about hospice care circulates in our commu-
nity, the myths may be quelled and Red Deer Hospice may reach our goal of providing care for all
who are facing this difficult time.
