We have new students arriving all the time! We have a new international student who came to Mary
Hill this week, and two more students joining us in January. We are however, losing one student in

Big Thank You goes to all those that helped with the book fair and decorating the school for

This year we are not doing the Jingle Jars. We were disappointed last year with the content of the
jars and want the children to learn to give without having a need to receive something in return.
Therefore, this year there will be a collection for Share and a jar will be placed by the office to show
how much money we have raised. Children are being asked to bring in a Toonie or a Loonie for
Share. Also the food drive begins next week, further details can be found in the newsletter.

The Blues Berries were in school on the 8th December. The children had a fantastic time and were
grooving along with the performers. On December 17th Pitt River Choir are coming to sing at
11:15am. They will perform five songs, the recorder group will also perform on that afternoon; there
is even the story “T’was the night before Christmas” which will be read. The performance is due to
end sometime after noon and if parents are here they may take their child home at this time,
otherwise lunch will be 12-1pm and we will dismiss at the regular time. .

Parent book club is starting a new book in the New Year, Barbara Coloroso’s “Just because it isn’t
wrong doesn’t make it right.” New members are always welcome and a notice will go home to
parents to invite them along in the New Year. The children’s book clubs will start again in January.

  3.2 Treasurer’s Report

Dinner and a Movie final figure is $479.01

Pie and Cookie was a success, however we earned a little less than we had budgeted for, the final
  figure came in $ 686.40.

We received another family donation of $150 this increases the total to $980.

Fundscrip was slightly up on last month and we raised $162, minus any shipping, in commission,
therefore the budget figure remains the same as we are still on target to raise that money.

  The Purdy’s order raised $669.88

  Clothes for cash raised $775

Business Partners has received a cheque for $75.

The Beyblade tournament was a lot of fun and the children had a great time. We actually raised
money on this night even though the intention was to have fun. The total raised was $477.19.

5. New Business
  5.1. Motions from the floor

The playground was removed some time ago now due to the drainage which was required
in the site area. This has still to be done, the playground has been removed, however no
attempt has been made to correct the drainage problem. There were safety concerns over
the metal rods which are holding the fencing in place as these could be a danger for the
children playing in that area. Mrs. McKnight agreed to call to try and chase this matter.

Jim Kempton has contacted the Port Coquitlam Fire Center for a list of courses for 2011,
these have been sent to parents via email and will be available shortly on the website. Jim
has also acquired some water testing kits and has tested a sample of the water in the
storage container. This has come back with no bacterial traces so is good to be used for the
purpose of hand washing etc. The dried food in the container is due to expire in 2011, it was
suggested due to the time of year that these be donated to Share. However due to the
nature of the food, sealed energy bars, it was felt that this was not the type of donation
Share would be looking to receive, however we would like to find a use for them rather than
throwing them away. Jim kindly agreed to look into finding them a home.

Jim will be in Christmas Pops this year at the Terry Fox Theater and more information can
be found on the notice board at the front of the school.
