In 2007-08 the Big Red captured the
program's fourth consecutive North Coast
Athletic Conference Tournament Champi-
onship. The tournament title sent the Big
Red back to the NCAA Tournament for the
fourth straight season and ran their four-year
win total to a program-best 85 victories.

In 2006-07 the Big Red captured their third
consecutive NCAC Tournament champion-
ship and advanced to their third straight
NCAA Division III Tournament where they
defeated defending national champion,
Hope College, 82-66 in the first round
before falling to eventual national champ,
DePauw, in the second-round. Denison's
25 victories were a new school single-season
record and their 15-game winning streak
which spanned over eight weeks during the
season, was also a new high. Over the last
four seasons Denison women's basketball has
won two NCAA tournament contests, gone
85-32 (.726) and has posted a 49-15 record
in conference play.

Lee is Denison's all-time leader in coaching
victories with a career mark of 309-235 since
the 1989-1990 season. She is a three-time
NCAC Coach of the Year (1990-91, 1997-98
and 2006-07).

      NCAA Second Round: Albion 63, Denison 44
Mar. 5 ----- On Saturday in Albion, Mich. the clock struck mid-
night for the Cinderella story Big Red women's basketball
squad. Albion College took advantage of a five-point halftime
lead and pushed the lead out to double digits in the second
half resulting in a 63-44 DU loss in the second round of the
2005 NCAA Tournament at Kresge Gymnasium. The Britons
handled the Denison pressure and fought off early foul trou-
ble to dictate the offensive pace of the game. Denison senior
guard Emma Woodward scored 12 points in the first half and
did an excellent job of getting to the free throw line, however
she was held scoreless in the second half. Sophomore Kristen
Sheffield was also held in check, ending with four points off
2-of-6 shooting. For the game, Denison struggled to put the
ball through the basket and were just 12-of-51 from the field (24
percent). Woodward was Denison's scoring leader and Marisa
Hard checked in with 10 points and four rebounds. Albion
entered the game with a size differential in the post and that
resulted trouble for Denison. Four Britons scored in double
figures, led by 6'0" sophomore Ruth Sventickas' 14 points and
four rebounds. Freshman six-footer Katie Elder finished with
11 points while Vanessa Thompson and Jaime Fornetti each
added 10 points apiece. Albion shot 40 percent from the field
(21-of-53) and outrebounded the Big Red 46-27. Denison ends
their record-setting campaign with a program best 20-9 record.
