Welcome to the 3rd Annual Final Push!

Celebrating the 1 year anniversary of completing an 8000km skateboard journey across Canada, the
Push for the Cure invites you to join in the 3rd Annual Final Push. This three day skating event taking
place October 11-13, the Thanksgiving long weekend, will involve riders pushing from Hope, BC to
Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. The route will take riders 153km along the Fraser River on HW #7.

The goal of this event is to create an incredible experience for those involved while raising funds and
awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We are asking participants to raise pledges
in the days and weeks leading up to the event with a target of each raising $500. As a group, we can
have a tremendous impact and show the world just what the longboarding community is capable of.

HISTORY: About the Push for the Cure

In August of 2005, a Rob Lewis, Carlos Koppen and Aaron Jackson decided to longboard 8000km
from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, BC. The event was born in response to the death of the
mother of a very good friend of Rob‟s. Even more than that, this event was born in response to an
epidemic. With 1 in 9 Canadian women being affected, 23,000 in 2005 alone, the team realized that
in the not too distant future they too will be impacted by this disease. With this fact in mind, the team
decided to do this for the most important people in their lives: their mothers, sisters, girlfriends, best
friends, and one day wives and daughters. These are the people they live for and they would do
anything for them.

Since that time much has happened. They have skated more than three quarters of the way across
Canada and are steadily approaching the finish line. Public response has been enormous, with more
than $30,000 raised.

The greatest support of all in this journey has come from the Canadian and international longboard
community. The team has met so many phenomenal riders and made numerous life-long friends with
riders in every city. This is why we are looking to the longboard community to help create the most
impact and make this the most successful event possible.

The Goal

The goal of this event is two-fold:

1) To raise awareness among the public that breast cancer is something everyone needs to be
involved in.

2) To raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The challenge we are issuing to you is to raise $500 before the event. With this goal for each rider,
we can have a tremendous impact and make a significant difference. What‟s more is we can show
the world what longboarders are capable of.

How to get involved

We want riders from all over to come and join in this event.

Here‟s how to get involved:

Step 1 – Go to www.pushforthecure.com and register as an official online participant. This will allow
you to keep track of online donations made on your behalf. Once you‟ve registered you will be able
to return to the site to observe your progress.

-On the left-hand side of the screen click „PARTICIPATE.‟
-This will take you to a page with two options. Click „Register for this Event!.‟
Then just follow the instructions as they appear

Step 2 – Print out a copy of the pledge sheet and letter of support included in this package and keep
it on you until this event. Now you can whip it out whenever to receive a donation and take down all
the important name/address information we‟ll need to get them a charitable tax-receipt (this is
important to many people).

Step 3 – Tell everyone you know about your participation in the event. Encourage friends, family and
strangers to go to the site and make their pledge. Although cash donations can be made, for security
reasons, the preferred method of donating is certainly via the website. Additionally, online donors will
receive a charitable tax receipt for their contribution.

Lastly, it should be noted that the online infrastructure found on www.pushforthecure.com was built
and is monitored by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. As a result, there is no „middleman.‟
All funds are directed to an account under the name of the Foundation.

                                    www.PUSHFORTHECURE.com
Fundraising

Our per rider goal is $500. Here‟s how to get it;

The best way is online. As previously mentioned, once a participant is registered on the
website, he/she can direct friends, family, coworkers, everyone to the site to make a pledge on
their behalf. This will not only allow for a secure means of donating, it will also allow the
participant to monitor the amount of money they are raising.

The other means of collecting pledges is to solicit them directly. To do this, you will need to
use the Pledge Form found at the end of this package. Ensure that all fields are filled out
completely. As long as the address is made out clearly, individuals can receive tax receipts for
their contributions. This form must be returned at registration the morning of the event.

Note: all cheques must be made out to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. In the
„memo‟ line please have the donor write “Push for the Cure.” This will allow the Foundation to
monitor funds coming in on behalf of the Push.

Now get out there and talk to everyone you know! In fact, even talk to people you don‟t know!
This is a cause that benefits everyone!
