                                                                                                                                           In weeks leading up to Christmas, you may have noticed the many red bells hanging on the Zion’s bulletin
                                                                                                                                           boards, with signs inviting you to give a ―gift of a bell‖ in honor or memory of loved ones. Thank you to those
                                                                                                                                           who gave the gift of a bell this past holiday season. We still have a long way to go, but gifts for the Carillon Bell
                                                                                                                                           System can be given any time of the year. Please make checks out to the Zion Endowment Fund and write Car-
                                                                                                                                           illon Bells in the memo line. Thank you for your enthusiasm and come on, let’s ring those bells.

                                                                                      the end of 2008. Zion finished the year with a deficit of $1,084. It was our goal to

                                                                                      year that we incurred $6,622 of unplanned expenses. A combination of additional

                                                                                      (including money from WELCA’s meatball dinner) helped to minimize deficit and pay
                                                                                      our outstanding bills. The generosity of Zion members made it possible to forgo a
                                                                                      formal ―Up and Over‖ giving campaign this year. Thank you to everyone who has
                                                                                      given and continues to support our ministry at Zion.


                                                             The 2009 budget is finished and was approved by the congregation at the annual meeting. The budget is based
                                                             largely on known income and expenses or historical data when possible. This reduces the chance of creating
                                                             shortfalls for the new year. Our biggest challenge with the 2009 budget was estimating income and expenses
                                                             for Zion’s new Recovery Worship service.


                                                             A copy of the December 2008 Treasurer’s Report is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the
                                                             Fireside Room.
