        the Head of School
                   Welcome to An Evening in
Venice! On the other hand, if
you are in Venice, again I say,
“Benvenuti!” What a pleasure it is
to extend to all of our friends and
                   special guests, a warm welcome
                   to Maranatha’s Dinner/Auction
celebration. The marvelously transformed venue
will create an ambiance of leisure and laughter. A
kaleidoscope of specially acquired items is available
especially for you this evening. Tonight as you give
to Maranatha High School, know that your gifts will
continue to support our mission of enabling our
young men and women to live lives of purpose and
distinction, to impact this world for Jesus Christ.

Our auction committee, under the direction of Teri
Craft, is to be commended for their dedication and
sacrifice of many hours of preparation into planning
this celebration. Please join me in thanking Teri
and her team of committed volunteers for their
tremendous efforts.

Your support tonight will ensure that our student
programs will continue to grow and thrive as we
move forward intentionally to serve our students with
excellence. Please enjoy yourselves this evening, and
Grazie!

      From Event Chair…
Dear Friends,

Welcome to An Evening in Venice! Bringing
this event to life has been a grand collaboration as well
as a privilege for me to work with the many devoted
and talented members of the Maranatha family.
My profound and sincere gratitude is sent to all
who contributed to our benefit. This evening would
not be possible without the generous efforts of
dedicated Maranatha parents, staff and merchants
in our community. So please take note of all those
who have contributed and supported our cause.
Every penny from this event will help build a better,
stronger Maranatha, the very school that is providing
hope and promise for our children and their future.
There are so many volunteers to which I am grateful.
However, special recognition must go to Jennifer
Zambrano, whose organization and attention to detail
is unsurpassed and to Jarita Davis for bringing us Bid
Pal and our fabulous publicity. Special thanks goes to
Nancy Davidson for her incredible decorating talents,
to Kimberley Valentine for her tenacious underwriting
efforts and to Hera Markarian for her numerous auction
contributions! To the lovely Patty and Hugo Van de
Graaf, thank you for volunteering and opening up
your beautiful home for our Gift Gathering Party. Lisa
Sommers you have been an inspiration to me! Thank
you and Carrie Brakebush for taking on the tuition
opportunity drawing. Dave Harris and Dominic and
Marie Pepe: many thanks for accommodating all our
requests. And last but not least, to my friend, Dee Lee,
our auction leader, without you we would simply have
no auction. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for
hanging in there and for putting in so many long hours.
A huge thanks goes to Cynthia and Jay Porter
of Cynthia Brooks Distinctive Catering for offering
their catering talents and donating such a large
portion of our gourmet fare. You have been absolutely
wonderful. Dear Chet Crane, thank you for your
continuous, positive energy. And to our awesome
evening’s auctioneers, John Rouse and Geoff Hurte
who will undoubtedly entertain us, thank you!
Maranatha is a wonderful family and we have
awesome kids! This night is all about them. It is my
greatest wish that our collective contributions will
abundantly bless Maranatha and that you will enjoy our
special Evening in Venice!

Let the festivities begin,

Abbondanza!

        How to BidPal ®
This year we are pleased to premiere BidPal, an
interactive wireless automated silent auction bidding
process. With BidPal, you can bid anytime, from
anywhere at the event. You can bid on items, watch
items, and be instantaneously alerted when you have
been outbid. At the end of the auction, you know
exactly what you have won. No more running back
and forth to the bidding tables. Look for volunteers
with a green lanyard to assist you with BidPal.

GET STARTED!
Gently tap the screen with your fingertip.

HOW DO I FIND ITEMS?
You can find items by pressing one of the four BLUE
buttons on the Main Menu:

CAN BIDPAL AUTOMATICALLY BID FOR ME?
Once you have submitted a bid, you will be prompted
to enter a Max Bid. Upon doing so, BidPal will
automatically bid on your behalf, by increment,
whenever you are outbid, up to your Max Bid amount.
NOTE: Only the current high bidder can enter a Max Bid.

WAS I OUTBID?
If you see a flashing OUTBID message, tap it or press
View My Items to see what you were outbid on!

   Silent Auction Etiquette
All auction items and services were donated by
school families and friends of Maranatha. All sales
are final and auction items may not be exchanged.

All silent auction items must be paid for and
removed by the end of the evening. As a courtesy
to our donors, reservations for trips, rentals and
personal services should be mutually arranged
with the donor within 60 days of the auction. All
are subject to availability and any other restrictions
indicated.

We, the Auction Committee, encourage both the
donor and the purchaser of each item to adhere to
any stipulations and/or limitations that accompany
each item. No special arrangements should be asked
for by either party. Please be aware that some items
have limited availability. Again, read stipulations
and restrictions carefully and adhere to them.

    Live Auction Etiquette
How to Bid: The Auctioneer will suggest bid
amounts. To enter a bid, raise your hand until the
Auctioneer recognizes your bid. Bids should be
made promptly. The Auctioneer will not let you bid
against yourself. Please remain seated.

The highest bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer
shall be the purchaser. In the event of a dispute
between bidders, the Auctioneer shall have sole and
final discretion either to determine the successful
bidder or to re-offer and re-sell the article in dispute.

At the signal from the Auctioneer that the bidding
for a particular item is closed, title to the article
will pass to the highest bidder who thereupon will
assume full risk and responsibility for the item and
will pay the full purchase price.

At the close of the live auction, all successful bidders
will be asked to go to the cashier’s tables and pay in
full for their auction purchase. Your invoice will be
marked “paid”. You will then present your “paid”
invoice to the auction monitors in order to obtain
your actual auction items.

         General Guidelines
Payment

Signature constitutes a legal contract to buy. All
sales are final and there will be no exchanges or
refunds unless previously specified. All items must
be paid for by the end of the evening. Payment must
be made by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard.

Cashiers will be available for check out after 8:20 p.m.

Limits

Unless otherwise specified, the use of condominiums,
cabins, tickets, services, etc. must take place before
February 26, 2012 and must be scheduled at a
time agreeable to all parties. The purchaser should
contact the donor to make arrangements within 60
days of the auction. Restaurant certificates do not
include liquor, tax or gratuities unless so specified.
The Auction Committee reserves the right to
withdraw any item from sale prior to the final call
for bids.

The Auction Committee has attempted to catalog
and describe the items correctly, but all items are sold
“AS IS”. MHS neither warrants nor represents, and
shall in no way be responsible for the correctness of
description, genuineness, authorship, or condition
of the items.

No statement contained in the catalog or made
orally at the sale or elsewhere shall be deemed
assumption of warranty, representation, or liability
for tax purposes, or for general value. All sales are
final.

Tax Deduction

Auction purchases may be tax deductible as provided
by law. Please consult a tax advisor regarding tax
laws and the deductibility of certain purchases.
