                                          •   Breast milk is the best food
                                              forbabies till the 4th month, so
                                              the practice of breast feding
                                              should be encouraged.
                                          •   Breast milk alone will not
                                              sufficient after 4 months to
                                              sustain the growth. This calls
                                              for other additional food
                                              supplement.
                                          •   At 3-4 month fruit juice,
                                              porridges prepared out of
                                              wheat or regi flour can be
                                              started.
                                          •   At 4-5 months dal, vegetable
                                              soup may be given.
                                          •   At 5-6 months eggs may be
                                              given, initially the egg (yolk)
                                              should be given in a soft boiled
                                              from.
                                          •   After 9 months breast feeding
                                              may be discouraged.
                                          •   After 10 month the baby should
                                              share the family food.

                  Facilities available in the hospital

>Out patient space and waiting hall:

The O.P.D. services in Government Hospital, Daman have plenty of out patient
space and waiting hall. There are separate chambers for O.P.D. consultants and
specialists. The O.P.D. is attached with Registration counter, Pharmacy, X’-Ray,
Laboratory, Radiology services & 24 hours admission counter.




>Pharmacy:

Medicines are given free of cost to all the patients.
We have enough stock of medicines all the time to meet the requirement of both
Indoor & outdoor patients.
>General Medicine:

Medical Ward      : 30 beds ( included 5 isolation beds)
Here, there are 10 beds for male and 15 beds for female.




Surgery & Orthopedic:
There are 30 beds in wards
There are 15 beds for male and 15 for female.
All types of surgeries are carried out. Average of 6090 surgeries are done in a
year. We have an operation Theatre Complex with 3 Ots (one for Ophthalmic
Surgery).
Obstetrics & Gynecology:

There are 30 beds in this department.
We have fully Air-conditioned labour room with facility of conducting 3 deliveries
at a time. An average of 500 deliveries are conducted in a year.




I. C. U.:




We have facility to treat 2 patients in ICU,
Pediatrics:

We have 8 beds for children in pediatric ward. ( included 2 beds for neo natal)

In addition to this we also have neonatal unit with incubators, warmers & Photo
theraphy-units.




EYE/ENT:

In Eye and ENT ward there are 8 beds.

An average of 01 cataract operation & ENT 07 operation s are performed every
month.
Emergency Services:

Emergency services are given 24 hours round the clock manned by Casualty
Medical Officers all the time. During peak hours it is manned by two Medical
Officers with subordinate staff. A proposal to have a Trauma unit is in progress.




Facility of Blood Bank is available:

The hospital has facility of blood bank (FDA approved) within the Hospital
Campus with capacity storage of 50 blood bottles.


Ambulance Services:

The hospital has 24 hours ambulance service with 2 ambulances available round
the clock.

The Department of Radiology there are 3 X- Ray machines 1 is potable and
an Ultra Sonography machine and colour Doppler . An M.D. Radiologist gives the
service.

In Anesthesiology there are 02 qualified Anesthetists attached to the hospital.

The hospital provides Diet to all patients free of cost. The food is prepared as
suggested by Doctor. High protein diet is also given to mal–nourished patients.
Non–vegetarian food is also given thrice a week. Specified diets as per
requirement of patients are provided. There 2 cooks to prepare foods.
