ENG 111 Final Exam Review Our final exam is Monday, December 1 from 10:30-12:30. You will not be able to use your book or your notes. Bring something to write with (pen or pencil) and extra paper in case you need it. The final will cover the following concepts: I. Cause and Effect Main and Contributory Causes Immediate and Remote Causes Post Hoc Reasoning II. Argumentation “Offense” and “Defense” in argumentative essays. Inductive vs. Deductive Reasoning Logical Fallacies III. Active and Passive Voice Be able to identify active and passive voice and change passive voice into active voice. IV. Reading Sample Essays You will read an argumentative essay and then answer questions regarding the issue and the author’s opinion. Then, you will be asked to read a short essay and revise and edit where necessary. There will be grammar and sentence structure errors, and problems with rhetorical voice. Review pronoun-antecedent agreement, run on sentences, fragments, subject-verb agreement, and the handout on formal rhetorical voice.
