1 Crawler Cranes: Sector Overview
Following expansion at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 59.95% from 2006 through 2010, the
consumption of Crawler Cranes category in Brazil reached a value of US$216.7 million in 2010, which represented
an increase of 51.7% on 2009. The market achieved its strongest performance in 2008 with a growth of 157.3%
over its previous year and its weakest performance was witnessed in 2009, when it increased to only 0.2% over
2008.
In comparison, the fastest growing category of the Construction Equipment market from 2006 through 2010 by
consumption was Tower & Jib Cranes, which achieved a CAGR of 68.81%. The weakest performer was
Conveyors, which achieved only a CAGR of 9.45%.
By 2010, the consumption of Crawler Cranes category represented a share of 6.9% of the overall Construction
Equipment market. In comparison, Forklift Trucks represented 27.6% share, while Conveyors generated a further
