area of 5,200 Square Kilometers. Besides Caracas, the company also supplies electricity to near by areas such as
Vargas, Guatire, Guarenas and Los Teques as well as in the San Felipe, Yaracuy province. In addition to the power
business, EDC is engaged in offering network communications service comprising time-division multiplexing (TDM) and
data transmission by using the Ethernet protocol (IP). It also offers radio communication service that allows making
conference and private phone calls, alert calls and dynamic gathering, though the Motorata Smartzone MR system. EDC
is primarily a state owned entity acquired from AES Corporation, an US based company. EDC is headquartered at San
Bernardino in Caracas, Venezuela.
Financial Performance
The company reported revenues of (Bolivar) VEF 1,831.03 million during the fiscal year ended December 2008, a
decrease of 16.12% from 2007. The operating loss of the company was VEF 204.67 million during the fiscal year 2008, as
