Attn: Board of Pardons and Paroles

Dear Board Members:

This letter is written in reference to the recent decision of the Board to release offender Jon Christopher
Buice (TDCJ ID # 630496) on parole. I have written letters in opposition to the parole of this particular
offender since he was first eligible for review before you in 2003 and every time since, the most recent
being May 12, 2011. Before that, as early as 1994, I wrote in opposition to the parole of the other
offenders involved in the murder of Paul Broussard. Due to the senseless nature and gruesome
circumstances of the crime, and the sincere appeal by the family, I request that you withdraw your
decision to release offender Jon C. Buice.

It is always a sad occasion when there is a loss of a life, and especially so when a life is taken out of hate.
Paul was a victim of a hate crime--he was targeted and brutally beaten and stabbed to death because he
was gay. The tragic murder of Paul Broussard has visited much pain on those who knew and loved him,
as well as an entire community. I ask that you not compound the pain of this family's loss by releasing
this offender. I respectfully ask that the Board give serious consideration to this request to withdraw the
decision to release offender Buice.

Sincerely,

Garnet F. Coleman
