					Electric Bicycle Brochure
Note from the Electric Bicycle Network Team

The Electric Bicycle Network was set up to try to bring this wonderful new technology to the
UK, and to open up the experience of electric assisted cycling.

Electric bicycles can bring you the simple pleasures of cycling without any of the headache
of hills, or headwinds. You still pedal like a regular bike, but you can put in as much effort as
you like. The on-board computer works out how much assistance you need and gives you
that invisible boost to whizz you along the trail and send you effortlessly up hills. This
makes them great for all sorts of uses – from leisure riding, to shopping, to commuting,
building up fitness or simply meandering around on two wheels in the fresh air.

In this brochure we’ve tried to strip out all the unhelpful jargon that seems to accompany
electric bicycles. All the information included is the very latest available information from
Giant. If you really want to know more you can find all the technical specifications of the
bikes we sell at www.giant-bicycles.com.

There’s a few techie things to know:

The bikes come with 3 levels of assistance. Eco, Normal, and Sport. In Sport mode
you put in 1/3rd of the effort and the bike does the rest – good if it’s hilly or there’s a
strong headwind. Normal mode is for most riding conditions and the bike puts in ½
the effort. Eco mode is for the greatest range - you put in 2/3rds to the bike’s 1/3rd.

Sizing: these bikes are very adjustable – especially the Esprit. We’ve found in hiring
them out that most people use a Small or a Medium. We’ve put rough heights
against each size to give you a guide as to which size you will need. You can always
try the size out at a local Giant dealer if you’re not sure.

Range: depends a lot on wind conditions, gradients, rider weight, level of assistance.
We’ve used the ranges supplied by Giant.

Giant Express
Price £995 (Inc. VAT)
Use Leisure riding, short trips

                       Comfortable riding position and saddle

The Giant Express is the entry-level electric assisted Giant bicycle. Its system operates on
26V so it’s not as capable on the steeper hills as the Esprit or Escape, but as a run-around for
less hilly areas it’s perfect. It’s also slightly lighter too as there’s no need for front
suspension forks. The Express comes with a cross-bar or as a step-through model for total
flexibility.

Range: The stated range of the Express is the same as for other Giant models however we
have found that due to its lower power system range is generally less.

The Express step-through comes in Small (for those shorter than 5’3’’) & Medium frame
sizes. The cross-bar model also comes in Large (6’2’’+)
