About this form
This form should only be used for a place on the Graduate Teacher Programme.
Please complete the form carefully. Kent EBITT cannot evaluate your application unless you have
provided evidence that the candidate has the necessary qualifications for initial teacher training
(ITT) and that the school provides a suitable training environment. Both the school and potential
trainee must complete the form. Schools must also interview the trainee and complete the
interview forms and declarations and send in hard copy to the EBITT. The form itself should be
sent electronically to Maryan Wyles . Applicants who have been unsuccessful in finding a school
may apply using this form and leave the school sections blank. NB: In these cases referees must
be provided.

A written submission of 500 words is also required explaining your reasons for deciding to enter
the teaching profession

The information on the form will be stored on a database for up to three years and is subject to the
Data Protection Act; the DfES and GTC will have access to the database. The application will be
confidentially assessed by EBITT staff who will decide whether the applicant is called for interview.
Information on all candidates may also be made available to OfSTED to enable quality inspections
of the GTP. Kent EBITT will use anonymised data for statistical analysis.

partner working with the EBITT, please attach the most recent Ofsted report for each school

The Trainee is required to gain experience in at least two schools. Within Kent
EBITT the requirement is that the Trainee has a Second School placement of a
minimum of three weeks. This is normally arranged when the training plan is
established, however, a Second School is often designated at the time of
application. The Second School should provide a different experience and enable
the Trainee to develop existing skills and to have learning opportunities that may
not have been present in the same way in the Main School. The EBITT may change
the second school if the placement is not deemed appropriate for the particular
trainee.

A2.3 The Employment Based Trainer (Mentor)
It is a requirement of the EBITT that the appointed employment-based trainer is released by
the school to attend two mentor training days.
The role of the employment-based Trainer
The employment-based Trainer will play a crucial role in monitoring support and training of the
GTP trainee.
The EBITT and the School are both accountable for ensuring that the support of monitoring and
training is of the highest quality. It is therefore essential that the person appointed to this role is
suitably trained and experienced to deliver a range of teaching strategies and skills.

Original certificates for GCSE’s, degrees and equivalent must be brought to interview with the EBITT and the
school.
If in doubt about equivalence, get advice from an accredited ITT provider.
To check overseas qualifications, call the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) on 0870
990 4088. NARIC can offer guidance on whether a qualification is comparable in standard to a UK qualification,
but not whether it is suitable for entry to ITT.
