                             “SECTIONAL MEETINGS”
                        Wednesday, October 13, 2010

“SECTIONAL” meetings will replace our traditional large meeting for the month of October.
What does that mean? Eight “host homes” have been selected to host the Sectional
meetings. Small groups of members have been assigned to each host home. A listing of host
homes and member assignments is listed on the next page. Hostesses’ names are printed in
bold type. Please RSVP to your hostess by October 10th. She will appreciate knowing who to
expect. Casual dress and lots of fun is the plan for the meeting!

The idea for Sectionals came about through discussions of the Strategic Planning Committee
last year. The feeling was that General Meetings are rushed and do not allow adequate time
for much discussion and socialization. At General Meetings, the Board reports to the
assembly/membership. The intent of Sectionals is to provide time for the
assembly/membership to share with the Board and thus feel more connected.

Task Core activities seem to be moving along on “Fast Forward”. The enthusiasm and participation is absolutely infectious!!

What’s Coming Up: Eight fellow members are welcoming you to their homes for the October 13 Sectionals. Their team
includes two who will bring tempting refreshments and one Board member who will lead discussions. The responsibility of
everyone else is to show up, enjoy the camaraderie in small clusters, and join in lively conversation. Such fun to see homes
of others, to see how many others live in your section of town, and to exchange ideas. Each home’s guests are listed in
alphabetical order. Call me if you don’t find your name.

October 27 Women’s Health Symposium with Zonya Foco. Concerned that you haven’t gotten a table together – there is
still time to be in the table-captain drawing. OR if you want to come alone or with a friend or two, be assured Alyson Smith,
who is taking reservations, will put together Task Core, and friends, only tables.

November 17 General Meeting, at the hospital, will feature John Shertzer, speaking on Multi-Generational Volunteering:
Make the Most of the Differences. His delightful and “right-on” observations are so true for those upcoming holiday family
gatherings too!!

Remember to SHOP TIL YOU DROP for the Holiday Gift Wrap serving Methodist based employees, before the November
meeting.

This Year’s Theme and Color: Tradition calls for a Task Core President to select a theme and a color. We talked at the
September meeting about the theme of CONNECTIONS and you will hear more throughout the year. The color just had to
be bright yellow --A joyous, uplifting almost magical color found in those things that I treasure:

The first little flowers peeping out from under the snow in February

Clusters of daffodils gently dancing in the Spring breeze

        The light of the firefly

The goldfinch at the bird feeder

The luxury of eating pineapple and fresh Indiana corn.

A yellow post it note or highlighter to bring me back to reality

Harvest moon hanging over the fields

The warm glow of a candle and a fire in the fireplace

The sunlight shimmering on the lake welcoming me to a new day.

The warm peaceful glow cast over the lake by the setting sun

May all of your Task Core days be sunny and bright yellow.

Cheers, Gail McDermott-Bowler
Methodist Hospital Task Core President.

How far we've come -- it doesn't seem all that many years ago that the Women's Health Symposium was held in the
fellowship hall of Meridian Street Methodist Church. The hospital provided chicken salad and cookies. The
Foundation gave us table favors like pens and Band-Aids. A staff member spoke on a medical topic or a disease of
special interest. It wasn't fancy but it was fun -- and we were very appreciative of the special attention given to the
Task Core.

Now we're looking at the symposium as a community-wide event with potential for making friends and raising funds for
Task Core and Methodist Hospital. It's also a vehicle for promoting the Art and Antiques Show just a few months later.

This is exciting. This year's event is especially exciting -- especially to those of us who have been working on it.

We have a location that's familiar, convenient and spacious. We have all the activities to provide interest and
excitement -- health screenings, interesting product and information vendors, unique silent auction packages -- and a
speaker who is described in glowing terms -- like "awesome" and "dynamite." And yes, a couple of us have heard her
and it's true.

This is an event not to be missed. Make your reservation or, better yet, reserve a table with a group of friends (special
prize drawing for table captains.) Start thinking about your holiday gift list and those on it who will love Zonya's cook
book or video tapes.

Just can't wait and want to get in on the action? Call co-chairs Janet Greer or Pat Ritz and let them know you want to
help. There are always last minute arrangements, needs for hostesses or people needed to pick up auction
packages.

Whatever you do, don't delay. Don't miss this special event -- with your attendance and support, we know it will be
another highlight in Task Core's history.

Have you read the Focus? Have you heard the buzz and felt the excitement in the air? The Women's Health
Symposium committee is hard at work getting the word out, checking and double-checking all the details -- and doing
all we can to ensure that you and your guests will have a very special day. MHTC President Gail called hearing Zonya
Foco "a life altering experience. That's very special indeed.

Did your new year's resolution last only a day or two? Is the summer's bikini bulge still, well, a bit evident? The holiday
season is just around the corner so If you need some real motivation and some sensible suggestions, Zonya's the one
to get you started on your way to smart eating and smart meal preparation for you and your family. You'll love the
cookbook -- consider it as a great gift for many of the folks on your holiday list.

Mary Jo Burwinkel has taken the responsibility for making a special list of "Friends of the Women's Health Symposium"
whose sponsorship of $50 or more will give them special mention in the program and much gratitude from the

important causes. Call Mary Jo at (317) 566-8392 to let her know your check is in the mail.(14411 Quail Pointe Drive,

Dear Task Core Members,

The lazy days of summer have gone and the scent of autumn is in the air…it must be Indianapolis Art & Antiques
time!

Thank you to all who have volunteered for committees and chairperson positions. This group of talented, dedicated
and energetic individuals is already hard at work planning another outstanding Show. If you would like to make
new friends, connect with old friends and raise funds for Methodist Hospital, join us!

Not only will this year bring the finest art and antiques dealers, but also special events that promise to excite and
entertain. We will kick the Show off with the opening night Preview & Party, A Taste of Elegance. With first
shopping privileges, fabulous food, and entertainment by Henle and the Loops, this event is not to be missed.
Friday’s Lunch and Lecture features Duane Hampton. Duane’s long awaited book, Mark Hampton: An American
Decorator, chronicles her late husband’s career and life. Duane is a dynamic speaker and we are thrilled to
welcome her back to the Show as she shares stories of the design legend’s personal life and work. Saturday’s
Brunch and Lecture, Entertaining in High Style, will feature Party Planner David Jackson of Premier Events and
Master Florist Tim Kelley of Palmer Kelly Designs. The duo will share their expertise and bring out the “ hostess with
the mostest ” in all of us.

Task Core cannot fulfill its mission and fundraising goals without each and every member’s support! We
encourage you to get involved, and the opportunities abound: be proud of your Show and spread the word, be a
Table Captain, become a Page Patron, make sure your member tickets are used, volunteer, and attend special
events to name a few! We all share in the responsibility to do our very best to ensure the financial success of the
Show and we are certain we can all rise to the occasion!

Kind regards,

Christy and Lisa

Garage 1 (south garage) rather than in Garage 2. Garage 1 will be free to us and to the Foundation.
Debbie Hogan is sending each of you a “Yellow Volunteer Card”. Keep this in your car. Bring your
parking ticket in to the meeting. Debbie will stamp the parking ticket with the word “volunteer” .
Sign your ticket. As you exit the garage, show the attendant the “Yellow Volunteer Card” and give them
your signed and stamped ticket. Simple!! See page 39 of your yearbook for directions from Garage 1 to
the meeting sites.

Methodist Hospital Society members will continue to park for free in Garage 2.

Garage 2, will continue to be available to Task Core members who benefit from the closeness of the
location.

If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in
bed with a mosquito. ~Betty Reese

It takes only one – one phone call, one invitation, one conversation, to find that
one person who would make a wonderful addition to our membership! Wouldn’t
it be great if each member brought one new person in to our membership over
the next year! Task Core needs you to be that one person who will make that
one contact!

Take advantage of Task Core’s fantastic activities to introduce new comers to
what we do and who we are:
 Invite someone to shop with you for the Holiday Gift wrap – we all know
      a bargain hunter:
 Start talking about the Art & Antiques Show now! Who will you invite?
Who will you give your member tickets to?

Why is this important? We want more members! We are 26 years strong and
we want Task Core to have a strong membership to continue its
accomplishments into the future! Last year, we gained 14 new members,
thanks to our membership chairs and thanks to YOU! And, we also lost 14
members due to various circumstances. We need to keep our membership
growing in order to keep doing the wonderful things we do! We need you!!

Thank you for making a difference and thank you for spreading the word about
Task Core!

Please contact Michele Trivedi (felibertym2@gmail.com, 850-6315) or Carol
Tully (tully95@earthlink.net, 409-8640) with your recommendations for new
members!

Reminder: Our Fall New Member Orientation is on November 15th!!! Now is
the time to reach out to that potential new member!
