                           (Power Plant Controls)
                            Location: Salem, VA
                          1 Year Contract Position

Job Purpose:
In support of the ecomagination and green energy initiatives, GE is continuing to
expand its presence in the Plant Controls market with the vision to be the leading
player in this market space. Combining the current leading turbine controls with
plant controls in the same integrated control platform creates many opportunities
to optimize plant performance, increase reliability and availability, or reduce
emissions and startup time of power plants.
The Senior Engineer will lead and support teams focused on plant wide solutions
for combined cycle, desalination, simple cycle, and/or Pulverized coal power
plants. This role will stretch across three core areas:
Discovery: find new/innovative solutions for power plant control systems.
Application: lead the development and provide support to ensure proper
technical solution for new applications.
Deployment: ensure flawless execution of plant level solutions leveraging
remote connectivity where possible.

Essential Functions:
Lead a system focused team in identifying, applying and deploying plant level
solutions for the combined cycle market. Interface with external customers
from the development of requirements through installation of the final solution.
Functional responsibilities will include:
Create control strategies to improve plant operability.
Develop simulation for plant application to validate control philosophy
Mentor less experienced engineers in plant control methods.
Lead team to implement plant level solutions including development of
system architectures, proper hardware design, control application
development, plant equipment integration and validation test.
Support and Lead meetings with customers.
Evaluate new applications and provide direction to application engineers
in support of proposal activities.
Support controls commissioning as required leveraging remote
connectivity where possible. Occasional site visits will be required.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical or nuclear) or
equivalent education plus experience.
10+ years in control system design and implementation in the power
generation industry related to the Balance of Plant, HRSG and/or Boiler
Combustion.
Strong organizational/ project execution skills and prior success in working
with or leading global, cross-functional teams.
Ability to read P&ID drawings, understand control strategies and how to
apply modifications to the control system.
Occasional customer travel required.

Desired:
Operations, Plant design and/or Commissioning experience in Combined
Cycle, Pulverized Coal, IGCC, and/or Nuclear power plant.
Experience with the application and commissioning of non-GE control
systems including Westinghouse Ovation, Bailey Infi-90, Honeywell TDC
3000, Foxboro I/A and Siemens Teleperm.
Strong influence, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Passion for continuous learning and applying best practices to achieve
practical solutions
Enthusiastic self starter who leads by example, sets stretch goals and is
committed to team building
Green Belt Certified.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older.
You must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
You must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the
selection process
