The Development Associate assumes primary responsibility for the management of all elements of
MHS’s donor database which includes: accurate and timely record updates, data analysis and reporting,
gift entry and donor acknowledgment. The Development Associate will also assist with direct mail
campaigns and fundraising events. This position works closely with the Development Coordinator and
reports to the Chief Development Officer
HOURS: 30 hours/week
STARTING SALARY: $17.00/hour + generous benefit package (See side 2)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage gift processing and acknowledgments: accurately enter gift and donor information, create
and process personalized acknowledgment letters for donations.
Manage and maintain the database structure: ensure data integrity, and update the data entry
Working with the Finance Department, ensure proper fund allocation, produce monthly gift
reconciliation report and reconcile numbers.
Organize mailing lists and coordinate all mailings for the Development Department.
Prepare regular reports and donor analysis information as directed by the Chief Development
Serve as liaison with donors, car donation procedure, vendors, including: database consultants,
printers, and direct mail houses.
Assist the Development and Community Events Department with special projects and events.
Assist the Chief of Development and the CEO with donor and vendor communication.
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
An ideal Candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience with the Raiser’s Edge database highly desirable.
Self-sufficient worker who is able to prioritize, quickly manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
and meet critical deadlines;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Meticulous attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce error free work when performing
a variety of functions including: typing, text editing, data entry, file management, and calculations;
Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate multiple time-sensitive projects with team members;
Direct experience in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and experience with fundraising
and/or database software required.
Demonstrated ability to maintain highest levels of confidentiality with regards to donor records and
fund development information;
General knowledge of fundraising strategies and an interest in developing knowledge base and
gaining new skills;
Willingness to be flexible and supportive in the workplace.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A typical way of gaining the necessary knowledge, skill and ability
for this position is a four year college degree or 10 years working experience in a non-profit with two to
three of those years working with Raiser’s Edge. Fundraising/Development experience appreciated. Or
any combination of the above education and experience.
