Detlef Schmitz joins GROHE

Former managing director of Coca-Cola Germany appointed
General Counsel of Grohe AG

Düsseldorf, January 9, 2008. Detlef Schmitz (44), who served as
managing director of Coca-Cola GmbH, Berlin, and sat on the
Supervisory Board of Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG, Berlin,
joined the Grohe Group’s management team as General Counsel
effective January 1 of this year. Apart from serving as General
Counsel of Grohe AG, Detlef Schmitz will also be appointed co-
managing director of Grohe Holding GmbH and sit on the
supervisory boards of GROHE’s international subsidiaries.

Having studied law at the universities of Münster and Barcelona
and having practised law in an Essen-based firm for several years,
Detlef Schmitz joined Berlin-based Coca-Cola GmbH in 1996 as
an in-house legal counsel and was appointed head of the
company’s legal department in 1998. In 2001 he became the
company’s managing director. In recent years Detlef Schmitz
oversaw, in particular, the legal implementation of the merger of
the German Coca-Cola bottlers under the umbrella of Coca-Cola
Erfrischungsgetränke AG, Berlin, and gained extensive experience
in the successful design and implementation of M&A transactions.

Detlef Schmitz reports directly to the Chairman of the Grohe AG
Managing Board, David J. Haines.

GROHE has six production plants, of which three are located abroad, namely in
Portugal, Thailand and Canada. The company generates 82 percent of its sales
outside Germany.
