Hugo Chavez Meets Fidel and Raul Castro HAVANA, Cuba, June 17 (acn) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias met with the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, shortly after his arrival in Havana on Monday afternoon. According to Granma news daily, during the three-hour meeting, Chavez and Fidel exchanged ideas about important topics such as the current world food crisis, the international financial crisis and the energy situation around the world. They also spoke of the current situation in Venezuela and the positive moment that the South American nation is living with the strengthening of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the process prior to regional elections. They also agreed on the importance of the ongoing social programs in Venezuela, in which many Cuban collaborators are participating and Fidel gave Chavez a special edition of the book ‘Fidel, Bolivia y algo mas’ (Fidel, Bolivia and Something More…). On Monday night, the Venezuelan leader accompanied Raul Castro to a gala to pay tribute to the members of the Marti Medical Mission, on the occasion of its fifth anniversary.
