Ralph Love Plein Air Competition and Auction

RULES FOR THE EVENT
1. Pre-registration is preferred. Pre-registration fee is $15.00 per day; $25.00 for both days at the event. Registration will entitle participants to participate in the juried competition and silent auction at Butterfield Square (across from the original site of Ralph Love’s “old art shack”) on Sunday, June 28 from 3:30 to 5 pm. Awards at 4:30 p.m. Artists who pre-register will receive breakfast and lunch gift certificates. 2. Applications may be requested from melsads@aol.com and emailed back to us. All registered artists must sign in each day, Saturday, June 27 and, Sunday June 28, prior to any work being done. The Arts Council of Temecula Valley will have a table set up at the Street Painting Festival. (street TBA due to construction but will be obvious. Payments may be made by check and mailed to the address below or cash at the day of the event. 3. Artists may choose to paint any subject or any scene, as long as it is located within the Old Town Temecula limits. There are no size limitations. 4. After signing in, artists will be given a map of the Old Town Temecula limits and other useful information. Old Town Temecula Merchants will serve as guides to help you position and many will host you with beverages throughout the day. Please work with our ambassador merchants to assure you are not in a right of way. 5. Each work of art must be started and completed “en Plein air” (outdoors) at any time during June 27 and June 28. 6. Each artist may submit one piece of work for the competition and one piece for the silent auction. 7. There will be three awards given. The “Best of Show” award is a purchase award of $500.00. This work of art will become the property of The City of Temecula become part of their permanent collection. There will also be a $200 award, and a $100 Artists’ Choice award presented by The Arts Council of Temecula Valley. The Artists’ Choice Award will be selected by the registered Plein Air artists, who are encouraged to vote for the best painting representing the Plein Air style. Ballots will be available at the Bailey’s courtyard. 8. Art completed “en Plein air” should be delivered to Butterfield Square by 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. Auction and awards start at 4:30 pm. 9. Each artist will set the starting bid amount on their artwork for the silent auction. 10. Judging will take place on Sunday, June 28 at 4:00 pm. Artwork must be picked up at the end of the auction. Artwork not sold or picked up by the artist by the end of the event 5:30 p.m., Sunday June 28, will become the property of the Art’s Council of Temecula Valley. 11. Twenty percent from the sale of the artists’ works will go to support programs of The Arts Council of Temecula Valley. The Arts Council of Temecula Valley is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit California Corporation 33-0364524. Checks will be mailed to participating artists within 14 days of the event. No sales may be handled directly by the artist. 12. The artist is responsible for insurance of his or her artwork. The Arts Council of Temecula Valley assumes no responsibility for theft, damage or liability. We will make our best effort to assure the security of the artwork once it is at the judging site. 13. The Arts Council of Temecula Valley reserves the right to refuse to accept any artwork that is not painted according to the rules or is inappropriate subject matter.
