About us
The Micro Insurance Academy is a Delhi-based Charitable Trust (NGO) dedicated to training,
research, and advisory services for microinsurance units serving the poor. At present, we are the
first and only institution dedicated to training community-based micro health insurance schemes
in insurance domain knowledge.

We empower communities to protect livelihoods using the exciting financial tool of

Job Description:
The MIA is a rapidly expanding Indian NGO based in New Delhi. In order to keep pace with the
needs of the needs of a growing office, a Human Resources Officer is in great demand. The
incumbent will report to the Director (Operations), and will deal with all matters related to the
MIA’s recruitment and human resources activities. Specific tasks include:

    •   Coordinate recruitment process, including advertising jobs, forwarding resumes to
        managers, responding to job inquiries from prospective candidates, recruiters and MIA
        employees, scheduling interviews and follow-up meetings, and overseeing volunteer
        requests and assisting with the placement and administration of volunteers
    •   Consult with Directors and other staff in analyzing and proposing solutions to address
        organizational development, structure, and staffing issues
    •   Oversee new hire and termination paperwork paperwork, working with payroll to ensure
        employees are enrolled in benefits plan and removed from benefit plans when
    •   Oversee recruitment of foreign nationals, providing information on visas, housing and
        other relevant details
    •   Create, file and maintain employment files.
    •   Manage and oversees improvements to the performance management process (including
        development and management of performance appraisal process)
    •   Create new and improve upon existing HR policies and procedures to be included in an
        Employee Handbook. Communicate all policies and procedures to staff and ensure all
        staff receive required training. Ensure implementation of policies and procedures and
        that violations are dealt with accordingly.
    •   Maintain working knowledge of legal issues in India and ensure MIA compliance
    •   Facilitate staff trainings on issues relating to management, leadership, and other
        professional development
    •   Be primary point of contact for resolving staff issues
    •   Performance of other duties of a similar nature as required.

Qualifications                                     required:
Degree in relevant field
Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English and Hindi
At least 2 years experience in Human Resources
Proficient computer skills including MS Office, PC and Mac operating systems
Ability to work independently

The MIA will offer a competitive package of salary and benefits commensurate with experience
and skills. The package will be based on a base salary and an annual “loyalty bonus” for
applicants staying longer than one year. This is purposely done to discourage applicants looking
for a short term assignment from applying.
