Mass Ave Mardi Gras Mambo
The Mass Ave galleries and businesses, joined by the Mass Ave Merchants Association (MAMA), are ready
to celebrate Mardi Gras in style. Experience gallery tours, eclectic shopping, unique restaurants and
trendy nightclubs beginning Friday, March 4 at the annual Mass Ave Mardi Gras Mambo, celebrating the
upcoming “Fat Tuesday.”
Mass Ave Mardi Gras Mambo will kick off with the IDADA First Friday Art Tour. Stroll along Mass Ave from
6 -10 p.m. March 4 during the gallery tours and collect beads, listen to live entertainment and take
advantage of in-store specials between the 300 and 800 blocks of Massachusetts Avenue. Visit

Celebrations, sweets, art and decorations
More than 20 food establishments along Mass Ave’s six blocks will feature specially-priced, early-spring
menu items March 4 - 6. The art galleries and retail establishments will be festively decorated with Mardi
Gras colors and beads.
Head to The Best Chocolate in Town for delectable King Cake Truffles March 4 through the following
week.
Stop by the Athenaeum Theater March 4 from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. to celebrate Brazilian Carnival featuring
music by High Energy Band and DJ Cassio Ferrari playing a mix of Brazilian music. See a broadcast of the
actual Rio de Janeiro Carnival Parade while enjoying authentic Brazilian food and drinks.
The Chatterbox has live jazz music every night. On March 4, see Jared Thompson and Premium Blend or
enjoy Shawn Goodman's IJC on March 5, both from 10:30 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. Stop by March 6 from 8 – 11
p.m. for Jared Thompson Jazz Jam Trio.
Check out James Taylor March 4 at the Old National Center at 8 p.m. or head to the Rathskeller for live
entertainment featuring the Broderick beginning at 9 p.m.
The Franklin Barry Gallery at The Frame Shop will feature new paintings by artist David Morico March 4
from 5 – 9 p.m. The Gallery's Museum Shop will feature new artists who have created exceptional jewelry
including fused-glass artist Scott Johnson's floral creations and lamp work glass by William Purser, Thomas
von Koch and John Zinner. The Gallery has also added glass on copper Spirit Tiles by Houston Llew. The
Art Bank is featuring Gina Soo Golden Art Exhibit March 4 – 31.
Come back Saturday, March 5 for a FREE tour of the Athenaeum at 1 p.m. and live entertainment at the
Rathskeller featuring Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel at 8 p.m. On Sunday, March 6, The Pink Floyd
Experience is at the Old National Centre at 7:30 p.m.
