					Mitsubishi SUV – Outlander launched in the city

LUCKNOW: A new competitor has entered the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) market in
Lucknow. Mitsubishi has launched its new SUV -- Outlander in the city and the company
foresees a good potential in the state capital despite the ongoing recession.

Talking to reporters, Sumit Seth, country head, sales, Hindustan Motors, which has a tie
up with Mitsubishi, said that they have a target to sell at least 200 Outlanders per month
despite the global meltdown. "The north Indian region, particularly Lucknow, would
contribute significantly towards that,'' he said.

Soni Shrivastav, head, corporate communication, CK Birla Group while quoting the sales
figures of all SUVs taken together said that the market is "expected to grow''. "The SUV
market grew by six per cent between 2007 and 2008,'' she said. That is, as against the
total 9,453 SUVs sold in August 2007, the total sales figures stood at 9,953 in 2008,'' she
said.

Outlander was rolled into the Indian market in October 2008. The company after
targeting the market in Delhi and Mumbai has now shifted its focus to comparatively
smaller towns like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and now Lucknow.
