The planning has begun for the “bigger and better” 2011 MSRA Fall Campout in Grand Rapids, hosted
by the Northern Cruisers Car Club. The campout will be held the weekend of September 9-10-11.
It is our club’s goal to make this the best Fall Campout you’ve ever been to. We hope those of you
who attended last year’s campout had a good time and are planning to make the trip north again this year
for this fun event. Again, the campout will be based out of the IRA Civic Center. The club is finalizing
plans for many events during the weekend. We’ll be adding several new things to do during the weekend
as well as bringing back some of the popular events from last year.
The Cruisers are happy to announce this year’s campout will be an MSRA Car of the Year Voting
Event. Voting will take place Saturday morning during the Show-N-Shine. The club will keep MSRA
members updated with more details as they become available.
For MSRA members looking to stay in Grand Rapids the club has already blocked rooms with MSRA
discounts at several local hotels.

After serious consideration, Vintage Times Car Club has decided not to have the North Shore Rod

participation helped to make them the success we all enjoyed.
We will miss seeing you this year but hope you will please pencil us in for the 2nd weekend in July 2012. Our plans
are to use this break to allow us to plan an interesting and eventful run.

                      Sedan Deliveries Mystery Run 2010
                                                                                       Joe Wagner #L-1496

Hey, fellow rodders, spring is approaching fast. Before you know it, the rodding season will be here
and, of course, that means it is once again time for the Sedan Deliveries Mystery Run. This year it will
take place on Saturday, May 14th. If you’ve made this run in the past, you know what a blast it can be. If
you’ve never been to it or it’s been a few years, then by all means be there! This is THE best driving
event of the summer!
This year we will begin at “Brad’s Truck Accessories,” which is located at 1451 Willow Lake Blvd. in
Vadnais Heights. That’s just west of Highway 61 between County Road “E” and Highway 694. We will
be sending the first car out with their maps and vital information at 10am sharp, but only after we load you
up with coffee and doughnuts. Last car is out by Noon. There will be Safety Inspections at the starting
location from 9-11am. There is a non-oxy station (Amstar – 4061 Highway 61, SW Corner of Hwy 61 and
County F), 1.6 miles north of the starting point, that will have coupons for participants. Fliers will be
available at the Spring Kick-off Meeting and at the indoor car shows.
This is a “Mystery” run so we suggest you have a co-pilot that can act as a navigator because
someone has to direct and someone has to actually drive. We also suggest a referee to ride along, but
that’s optional. This year’s run will include beautiful scenery and the roads on the route are in great
shape. You will end up at a great location where there will be food and beverages for purchase and lots
of parking.
The run will include check points along the way with fun games to play. At the ending location, prizes
will be awarded for different categories and there will be four drawings for prizes. What more could you
ask for?
The cost to participate is only $5 (American) per car! It will be the best money you’ll spend all
summer. Plan now to attend the Sedan Deliveries Mystery Run’ on Saturday, May 14th at 10am at
“Brad’s Truck Accessories” in Vadnais Heights.
See you there!\\

MSRA Back to the 50’s Weekend 2011 to include
                     “Oversized Vehicles”
                                         By Wally Burchill #L-6178

The MSRA Board has approved a market test for our 2011 event to allow for the display of what have
previously been termed “Oversized Vehicles” in an area specific for them. Oversized vehicles include
large farm trucks, semi tractors and trailers, buses, petroleum tankers, and others that have been termed
too large to be in the general display areas during the event. These vehicles must meet the same year of
production, licensing, and insuring requirements as all other participant vehicles.
Concerns previously resulting in their exclusion have been related to the close quarters that we deal
with on the streets of the fairgrounds, large numbers of participants and spectators on those streets, and
the participant vehicles parked along them. To this extent the following parameters have been developed
to allow for oversize vehicle display at this year’s event:
    1. Entry and exit from the event for any registered oversized vehicle will be through the west gate
#15 which is referred to as the vendor gate. Vehicles will go directly to their display area by way of a right
turn into the west end of the Midway area.
    2. The display area is defined as that area along the far west end of the Midway, which is fenced
along a transit route and will be noted on the fairground maps and will be designated as such by signage
at the event.
    3. All oversized vehicles will be allowed to be displayed on Friday and Saturday of the event. There
will be no display on Sunday as this area is used for the swap meet that day. All oversized vehicles must
be off the fairgrounds at the close of the event Saturday evening.
    4. Any vehicle registered as an oversized vehicle that is found outside of this designated area will
have their registration window sticker pulled and will not be allowed to register a vehicle for the next
year’s event.
If this is a success for 2011 we will consider making it an annual portion of our event. It will be the
responsibility of those displaying oversized vehicles to display within these guidelines, compliance with
which will be the basis for this decision.
We look forward to having some of these unique collectibles at our event this year for the enjoyment of
the participants as well as visitors to our event. If you have any questions concerning this new program
please contact Wally Burchill at 651-439-8365.

                                 Cruisin’ Arts Craft Fair
                                          Orrin “Bud” Clover #4763
                                           Craft Fair Coordinator

Another year has begun. The applications for the Cruise-N-Art Craft Fair were sent out right after the
first of the year to all of the possible vendors that I have on my list and to the requests for the application
that have come in over the telephone and e-mail. We have already received some of the applications
back from the vendors. We had quite a few vendors reserve for this year after last year’s show. We hope
that a lot of them will return their applications. So far it looks good. I observed in the LineChaser that
someone had done a survey as to how many spectators attended the craft fair and swap meet. I guess I
don’t understand their count as we had no one standing at our door counting the number that entered our
building. We were at the door the whole time but I guess that is their own opinion.
Some of you had probably heard that we were going to retire last year. That has changed. We are old
and change our minds often. With the help of our son and future daughter-in-law and grandchildren we
decided to stay on as coordinators for some more years or as long as our health holds on and the Board
says it’s okay. Maybe then our son and daughter-in-law will take over.
Also we wanted to make sure our vendors got a fair shake and the booth prices did not go so high that
the average vendor could still afford to attend the craft fair.
Next month I will start the list of the vendors as they apply. Have a nice rest of the winter.

Do you have pop tabs sitting around that you don’t know where to donate them? Please bring them to
the Lester Building anytime during the Back to the 50’s.
Last year at Back to the 50’s participants and spectators brought pop tabs from all over the country.
We collected 4,016 pounds of pop tabs last year at Back to the 50’s. Our goal once again this year is to
collect 6,000 pounds of pop tabs. Please bring the pop tabs that you’ve been collecting all year to the
Lester Building so they can be weighed. Sign the clipboard and write down how many pounds you are
donating so your name can be printed in the LineChaser as a contributor. Your contributions could put us
over the top in 2011!
If you pop that tab just once, it becomes a habit. It doesn’t cost you a penny, but you could be helping
a family stay at the Ronald McDonald House one more day as their child recovers from a serious illness.
This is a way for you to show that we care for the wonderful work this House is doing for the people of our

Saturday, June 18 at 1pm in the Ladies Showcase Building (on the corner of Judson and Underwood).
Nancy Burgeson from Top Tier will be encouraging us to be sweeter again. She was with us for the
first time last year. She proved to be a candy making, cookie baking, cake decorating genius. Many of
you told Nancy that you wished you lived closer to her so you could take some of her classes. Nancy has
a wonderful response for you. She is bringing two of her most popular classes to the Ladies Showcase.
    • Truffles Candies for all Occasions. $30, Friday, 10 AM – 12:30 PM. Chocolate truffles are
smooth, rich and melt in your mouth. Best of all, they are easy to make. Why buy store-bought truffles
when you can make your own. In this 2 1/2 hour class, each student will make and take home a classy
one pound candy box packed with about 20-25 of these yummy treats. 15 student maximum for class
so register early. Cost of class and all supplies is $30.
    • Easy Cakes and Fancy Desserts. $35, Saturday, 9:30 AM-Noon. Nancy will help you make
those homemade desserts that look just like you bought them at a fancy pastry shop. It is so easy to do.
In this 2 1/2 hour class you will get to witness how easy it is to turn an everyday cake, cookies, candy and
more into fabulous looking creations that you have made yourself. Each student will take home recipes,
lots of know-how and a 6-inch cake that they create for their family and friends to enjoy. Maximum
number of 15 students so register early!
The cost of Easy Cakes and Fancy Desserts is $35 and the cost of Truffles, Candies for all Occasions
is $35. If you register for both classes, the cost is $60 saving you $5. Children ages 14 and over can
register with a parent, but only one child per parent can attend. Children pay the full registration fee.
Only registered children are allowed to attend for safety reasons and out of respect to other students.
To register for these classes, contact Nancy directly. You can pay by check, money order, cashier’s

golden. Trust me; you will want to be there.
A new participant this year is Hair Expressions Salon. Give Sharon Mathiesen # 4437 a big hug for
this one. Sharon goes to Hair Expressions Salon, located at 3551 Lexington Ave, Arden Hills, MN 55126. Sharon told her hairdresser Rhonda about Back to the 50’s and the
Ladies Showcase. Rhonda and the owner of Hair Expressions, D’Anne, contacted us and asked if we
would like them to do makeovers for some our women. What a wonderful question. The answer was a
resounding YES!
Cherry Weekley and I met with D’Anne and Rhonda to discuss how things would work. I practically
had to peel Cherry off the ceiling she was so giddy. We will nail down all of the details for you in the May
LineChaser, but here is the general guideline. On Friday, June 17, 2011, the Ladies Showcase will be
hosting a unique opportunity. We will be looking for any lady, younger to older, who wants to be
considered for a hair and makeup makeover. If interested, please come to the Ladies Showcase building
at 8:15 am on Friday, June 17.
The Hair Expressions Salon technicians will conduct interviews on as many contestants as possible
between 8:30 am and 9am. Interviews will end at 9 am sharp. At 9:30 am ten semi-finalists will be
announced and brought up onto the stage. The semi-finalists will be chosen based on time constraints of
the make over. From the group of ten semi-finalists, three will be selected. These three will then be
transported off the fairgrounds, to the Hair Expressions Salon for the hair portion of their makeover. They
will be returned to the Ladies Showcase and presented on stage at 3 pm for the makeup part of their
Please come to be interviewed for a makeover only if you are willing to commit to a complete
makeover AND commit your day on Friday, from 8 am until the 4 pm completion.
On Saturday, June 18, 2011 the Hair Expressions clinicians will be doing the hair and makeup for the
23 gals who are models in the Christopher & Banks and C J Banks fashion show. You can stop by the
Hair Expressions booth, #51, and see the transformations in progress.
On Sunday Hair Expressions will present us with a Hair Show. You will be able to watch ladies have
their hairstyles changed right on stage and get loads of professional tips on how go from the workday
world to evening chic in minutes.
There are still other things in the works that will be in the May LineChaser once all of the details are
worked out. We are still hoping to have a notable author in to meet, greet and sign books.
Thank you to Linda Lucas, she has been an invaluable asset to the Ladies Showcase. She has made
herself available to help each and every time I ask. Her latest award is most deserved.

The North Campground team would like to thank everyone who submitted an application for this year’s
pre-registration process. The applications for the North Campground have been coming in steadily and
we have enough to fill it. We will be assigning spots by 3/31/2011 and by the time this is printed you
should have been notified if you have been accepted or not. If you have not heard from us, please send
an email to and we will get back to you.
If you would like to be on next year’s pre-registration list please send an email to N- and include your member number, name, address, phone number, camper
type, camper size and tell us if you have a slide out or not.
We are looking at new ways to send the registration applications to you. It is important that all
registrants have a chance to receive the applications in the same time frame. This presents a very tough
challenge, considering many of you are traveling during this time, live out state, live out of the country or
have simply chosen to live in a warmer climate than the rest of us during the winter (yes I am Jealous ).
This year we focused on the campers. We purchased new software and installed all of your personal
information into the database. This software upgrade will help us manage all the information and be more
consistent in how we communicate with you the camper. The next task is to use these tools improve the
communication to and from you.
The Campground team has received many ideas from all of you and we do appreciate it. As we have
been logging in all of the information on the applications that you have sent to us it has been a nice
surprise to see how many of you have an email address. All but about twenty of you supplied an email
address this year. The use of electronic communication would help with many things and we will be
looking into that option for next year.
Thanks again for all of the ideas that you have sent to our email address. Please do not stop as we do need your
input to make the changes right for you.
