Waipa schools battle for supremacy

   Te Awamutu College hosted this year’s
Waipa Tri-Nations competition, taking on
teams from St Peter’s School and Cambridge
High School.
   Around 300 students took part in sports
events, dance, theatre sports, chess, a general
knowledge quiz and debating.
   Te Awamutu College won five of the 14
events: boys’ basketball, touch rugby, rugby,
chess and table tennis.
   Overall winners were St Peter’s (31 points)
with Cambridge second (28) and Te Awamutu
third (25). Cambridge won the school spirit
   Student organisers thank staff, coaches
and managers for their valuable assistance
with the event.

                                                                                                                                                            Waikato Regional Council commissioned Deloitte
                                                                                                                                                        to conduct this review, which highlights some real
                                                                                                                                                        concerns for Waipa District ratepayers.
                                                                                                                                                            We have been led to believe that the velodrome
                                                                                                                                                        development would bring many benefits to the
                                                                                                                                                        region, and ratepayers.
                                                                                                                                                            The following points have been taken form the
                                                                                                                                                        report. Waipa ratepayers can be the judge as to the
                                                                                                                                                        benefit they may gain as a ratepayer.
                                                                                                                                                            They may also like to think about what has been
                                                                                                                                                        promoted to us, the ratepayers, by project
                                                                                                                                                        proponents in order to convince us of what a great
                                                                                                                                                        deal we’re getting.
