TEACHING PROCEDURE

    Introduction and Mental Set

to guess the wholesale value of dollars that the bedding plant industry
encompasses? List student answers on the board and challenge them to
offer another answer to get closer to the correct answer. The answer is
    $971.1 million dollars.

controlled greenhouse conditions and sold in spring to customers for
planting outdoors. They include herbaceous annual plants used for
           ornamental display or vegetable production.

           Activity
Show transparencies 13.1.1-- 13.1.2. Tell students that they need to
obtain information from Local County Extension to put together their
           own local chart and graph.

    3. Assignment
Students should conduct a survey of 10 people to identify what their
favorite bedding plants are and why.

    4. Students will begin a lab that will last the entire semester. They
will start an identification list. They will be given 5 plants per week to
learn to identify. An I.D. quiz will be given each week.
