  project before every meeting has gone very
  well. We have completed 17 small projects at
  a cost of around Rs 1 lakh and making a
  difference for around 6000 people in schools,
  old age homes, rescue homes, special schools
  etc. Rs 8000 was donated to CMs relief fund.

  We have conducted the Toast a Tabler event at every
  Business meeting and it has been received well by all
  Tablers. It is immensely successful.

  and was well covered by newspapers; Also Football Match held for

• Table activities are going well. There is good participation
  by all Tablers in all activities. Attendance at all meetings is
  around 70% on an average. Table will be participating in
  good numbers at the Mid Term meet. We are going down
  in strength, after two more retirements this year we will
  be down to 10 members. We are earnestly searching for
  prospective members. We are confident that we may be
  able to induct two persons before June. A drastic change
  has happened within the Table in the sense that there
  seems to be renewed sense of Tabling among members.

•   ‘TAARE ZAMEEN’ drawing competition for mentally disabled children was held at
    Splastic Society, Trichy .More than 100 students participated in the competition.
    Prizes and participation gifts worth Rs.8500/- were distributed.

•   Free Dental Camp was held at Municipal Primary School,EB Road,Trichy .
•   Tr.Jerrald sponsored lunch for all the students. Tr.Prasanna, a dentist made a free
    check up all the students and faculty of the school. Tooth pastes worth Rs.12,500
    were distributed free of cost to all the students. Tr.Prasanna also made a
    presentation on” How to maintain your teeth clean”. The total number of
    participants was about 165 students.

    looks after mentally retarded destitute.

    of students of Ecloe de Bambino. Chief chef of Hotel Sangam was the judge.
    There were about 45 participants for the competition. Prizes and gift hampers

  malaysia in Nov was great fun. Inaugurated the Speech therapy
  room and occupational therapy room at SRT School. The whole of
  Dec and Jan the table spent working on Food Fest 2010. It was a
  team effort lead by FF Convenor Tr Kitchu. We had great response
  from the public at food fest 2010. 50 food stalls and13 non food
  pavilions with amusement area for kids and entertainment for all
  every day made the event a success. The table had great fellowship
  while organising the event . Area Sports and Mid Term was well
  attended.

  in May. Hosting 3rd AEX and twinklers camp in May.

  RTEI Programme is a 24 months study on learning disability in 100
  epileptic school going children. Delegates of Sri Lankan Epilepsy
  Association have agreed to participate in this meeting. This offers a lot of
  scope for us to embark on International collaboration for various
  projects including exploring the possibility of WHO funding.

  January 2010 as part of our Project, Fund Raiser & Publicity. Posters were
  kept in many prominent locations like clubs, coffee shops, star hotels,
  luxury apartments, malls etc.Huge bill boards were kept in two
  prominent locations of the city for more than two months, Write ups,
  articles and ads were printed on many leading news papers like The

• Breakfast for the orphans was arranged at Santhwanam. Iddiappam
  and Chicken stew prepared by the tablers were served. The tablers

•   CBRT 131 in association with the Indian Epilepsy association conducted the
    National epilepsy day as part of its Round Table Epilepsy Initiative and the event
    was telecasted on Asianet
•   News and the same was aired on Radio Mango 91.9

•   Vehicle rally was conducted from Jawaharlal stadium to DH Ground. The rally was
    flagged of by Projects Convenor Tr. John Thayil and Dr Sreekumar an eminent and
    senior most Neurosurgeon. 30 vehicles participated in the rally.
•   Evening there was the official inauguration of the Round Table Epilepsy initiative at
    IMA Hall were 100 school going epileptic children will be screened and evaluated
    to assess their cognitive and learning disorders over a period of one year and
    corrective measures would be taken as a follow up study. Ernakulum Collector Dr.
    Beena inaugurated the function. Area chairman Tr.Sujay Giridharan and CBRT
    Chairman Tr.Rakesh Ramachandran presided at the function which had around 100
    Doctors attending.
•   CBRT131 handed over the contribution of Rs.50, 000/- to Dr.B.Rajendran towards
    the Joint Epilepsy Program me.

• The boundaries of barricades were covered by RTI brand ambassadors (
  Kajol & Ajay) promoting RTI posters / huge frames.
• The Stage was no less than FIFA Film fare awards stage with RTI LOGO at
  the centre.
• Lightings , Lasers , world class sound and stage with lots of film / TV
  personalities shared the stage with their songs and dances.
• The crowd was around 7000 plus.
• Every segment of ticket had a separate entrance and ROUND TABLERS had
  a privilege box.

• Fund Raiser and publicity event – RTI week started off with a fundraiser DJ
  0452, Disco Night. The event was well attended by general crowd from
  Madurai and the disco night was rocking till early hours. This joint
  fundraiser with Ladies circle raised Rs 1.45 Lakhs
• Singapore Challenge Area Initiative. This was done jointly with MCRT 99
  and LC’s of Madurai. The event was well attended by all schools in and
  around Madurai
• RTI hoarding at Anna Nagar – An FTE Hoarding was erected at anna-nagar
  which has great view from all around.
• “Wear Seat Belt Campaign” It is possible to reduce injuries if people in the
  car wear seat belt. This event is being made an an annual campaign.
• MRT 14’s Mega Fund Raiser SUVAI DURBAR 2009, food Festival was held
  from December 10 till 13 at Tamukkam Grounds. The event had been well
  planned and executed where maximum publicity in terms of hoardings,
  banners, newspapers ads, write ups and press and fm radio releases. The
  event was an overwhelming success.

• In line with the National Publicity Day being celebrated on this day,
  Tablers gathered at Subbaiah School Tennur and put up hoardings
  as per the format given by RTI. In the busy and traffic filled main
  lane of Tennur, the RTI banner stands majestically apart and is a
  definite attention getter of the 24/7 non-stop traffic filled area.

• The Area 1 initiative ‘Talk your way to Singapore’ – and elocution
  contest for the students of Standards 8th and 9th was conducted by
  TRT 54 on the 30th of November at E.R. Higher Secondary School at
  10 am. Letters and posters about the competition were dispatched
  to nearly 60 schools. 40 students took part eagerly in the
  competition. The prizes and certificates were given away in the
  valedictory function presided by our Sq. leg Balasubramaniam.

• MRT 99 hosted a Dandia night on 5th Sept 09. Dandiya Nite is one of the
  most colorful events to hit the city of Madurai. With a participation of
  more than 250 heads the event was a grand success. The event was
  advertised in local news paper and Radio Mirchi for 3 days prior to the
  event. Posters and banners were put up in and around the city to gain
  publicity.
• A large permanent mcrt 99 banner in Vikasa School and Upper Middle
  School in Karupaoorini with clear view from the main roads.
• The Area 1 initiative ‘Talk your way to Singapore’ was conducted by 99
• Madurai City Round Table 99(MCRT-99), conducted a publicity campaign
  along with Chennai Event Management Services on 4th of January 2010
  from Appar High School karupioorani Madurai at 8.00am. 45 participants
  from 11 countries completing seven stages of the fourth annual Classic Run
  Rickshaw Challenge. From Chennai to Kanniyakumari, these participants
  will experience an auto rickshaw adventure that will take 11 days and 1,000
  kilometers to complete! The tablers at Madurai greeted and flagged them
  off on their way to Rameshwaram. Assistant Commissioner IS
  Mr.Kumaravel did the honours.

    Warming at 4pm was flagged off by RDO,Mr.Kasi viswanathan, in the presence of
    Municipal commissioner, Mr.Vijayaraghavan,DSP Mr.Rajagopal ,Municipal Chairman,
    Mrs.Radhika Devi, Special Guest Playback singer Ms.Mathangi.. 1000 students from
    schools, colleges and the public participated in the the rally and made it a huge

•   A Press Conference that was organised- 3 major developments took place. The
    President of Sivakasi Chamber of Commerce, Mr.Samuthrapandian gave a
    declaration that shop keepers would not use plastic carry bags and will move to
    giving cloth bags. Secondly, Mr.Murali,President,Master Printers’ Association and
    Mr.Abiruben, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Fireworks Manufacturers Association who are
    in charge of major Kalyana Mahals announced that people who come to book the
    mandapams would be strictly instructed not to use plastic cups plates etc, inside
    the kalyana mahals for functions.Thirdly, Mr.Kadiresan ,President of Mahamai Fund
    in charge of temples in Sivakasi has implented the rule of not allowing plastic carry
    bags inside Temple premises.
•   Huge signboards have been placed in fron to the temples instructing people not to
    bring plastic carry bags.This is a huge step forward in Sivakasi. The people have
    voluntarily come forward to do it due to the efforts of Sivakasi Velayutha Rastha
    Civic Exnora.

                   Area Chairman
• Would like to congratulate CEO Rock on Tr.Rakesh for a fantastic job
  done.
• Area Chairman Tr Sujay Raised a TOAST to CEO Tr.Rakesh
  Ramachandran.
• Rs. 40000 is to be given to every Table from proceeds of Rock on,
  provided they apply for RTIF funding. The deadline for applying for
  the Area funding is on 15/04/10.
• Requested AVC Tr. Sejoe to coordinate with tables and to ensure
  that tables AGM dates don’t clash.
• Request the support of the tables for the next two upcoming events
  Area trek and Mass Tour.
• Updated the AEX regarding the formation of a new table in Cochin
  and asked chairman 131 to give further details.
• Internal extension is a concern in most Tables.
                      Any Other Matter

• Tr Deepu Paul commented about the excellent job done by Area
  Chairman Tr.Sujay by organising the “Rock On” show & raised a toast to
  Tr Sujay.
• Tr Rakesh said that he just executed Tr.Sujay’s plans and it was all his
  idea & directions.
• Tr Sejoe informed that the Area-1 has received the following awards
  during the National AGM:
     TRT54 – Certificate of Merit for Greeting Cards sale
     Tr Rajeev of MRT14 – certificate of Merit for the best Article
• Tr Promod of MRT14 suggested to cut events in the Area as it is
  becoming more & more difficult to get Tablers to travel and attend
  Area Events.
• Tr Rakesh suggested to reduce the Southern Star to one issue per year.
• Received sms greetings from IPP/IRO Tr Pranay Trivedi.
• Date and Venue for the next AEX
  The 3rd AEX meeting of RTI Area 1 will be held in May, 2010
  at Kottayam.
• Report of Seargent-At-Arms
  The Sergeant reported sunshine collection of Rs.13,000/-
• Vote of Thanks
  One behalf of the Area Board Area-7 AST, Tr. Chirag thanked
  all Area Board Members, Chairmen, visiting Tablers &
  Square Legs for attending the meeting and also thanked
  Area-1 for hosting the meeting.
• Toast
  The Area Chairman Tr. Sujay raised toasts to Round Table India &
  Round Table International.
• Closure
  The Area Chairman Tr Sujay closed the 2nd AEX meeting of Area-1.
