Merry Christmas Well Folks………….another year has flown by again!!! I say this every year but it seems as if it comes faster every time. It is hard to believe that it is almost 2009! Our holiday last year was great. All of our children were here. And, although Mom went in the hospital the week before…..she came home the day after Christmas so we celebrated for several days. Our kids are all well and wonderful!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!! We celebrated the New Year at home this year…Trina, Doug and the kids were here and our friends, Patti and John joined us for our own little party. The end of January we flew to Phoenix to visit with Dave’s lifetime friend Mickey and his beautiful wife Janet. A few days later we met our friends Bob and Judy from Pittsburgh at the airport……then we all got on a plane to Ixtapa, Mexico…we spent a week in Troncones Beach… at the Casa Delfin Sonriente…. Mickey and Janet and their family have stayed there several times. While walking the beach they showed us the lot they bought several years ago. After our time in Mexico we spent a couple of more days in Phoenix with Mickey and Janet. We had a wonderful time!!! March came and we had made plans with Mickey and Janet to go to the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Savannah, Ga….….this is the second largest celebration in our country after New York City. This trip had been on Mickey and Dave’s Bucket List for a long time, so we went!!! We picked them up at the airport in Charleston and after going to an Anne Murray concert there we headed south. We had a “GREAT” time in Savannah!!! Then after a couple of days spent at Folly Beach we took them back to the airport and headed home. Spring Breaks had started and Dave’s cousin Polly and her daughter Lauren came to the beach while we were away……..they visited with Mom and we got home in time to see them before they left. A couple of days after Easter Andrew and Elliott came for a few days. We had a great time with them all! The next week was a very sad time for us all……..My brother Jim died…he was playing basketball with friends and had a heart attack and died instantly…he was two years younger than me. Because his newest granddaughter Payton was born two months early he was able to see her…. He and his wife Beth spent their whole lives working for the Lord……he was a wonderful man and we miss him greatly!!! It was a sad time but we did get to visit with lots of family and I got to see my brother Tom, too. The next week we had Jamie, Joy and Liam for their Spring Break week. Again we had a great time. We are so fortunate that our children live so close! The week after that we went back to Florida again…Dave played in a golf tournament with an old friend John Milnor. While he was golfing I visited with my sister Lolly and my sister-in-law Beth. May came and we got to see Dave’s cousin Gloria….she was in town for her son Darren’s band competition. A week later I flew to Sacramento to visit with my Aunt Shirley…..who had been ill. My sister Candy came and we celebrated Aunt Shirley’s birthday and visited with our cousins Gary and John. A couple of days after we left Aunt Shirley passed away….we were so glad we were able to spend some time with her. While I was away Dave went to Florida for another golf tournament with our neighbor Ron Hileman. The end of May we went to Davie’s home and He and Dave went to his Lake House to do some work on the basement. They put in a bathroom, another bedroom and a family room. Then we took Mom to Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, N.C…..this was part of her birthday present. June came and we had Jamie by herself for a few days…..she made a couple of skirts with some help from me. And then Davie, Linda, Andrew and Elliott came for a weekend at the beach. Elliott and I sewed too….She made a dress. FUN!!!! July came and I spent a couple of hours with Cecil Chandler and his cameraman………….he did an interview about my shell sun mosaics. I was famous for a minute and a half. th Bob and Judy came for our 4 of July Golf Tournament and at the picnic after golf, Trina came with Joy and Liam…………Jamie was home with Daddy practicing for the musical she was going to be in. The end of the month found us joining Trina and her family, Davie and his family for our annual weekend at Davie’s lake house on Lake Keowee. Linda’s uncle and his family join us for that weekend as well as Linda”s Mom. As usual we had a GREAT time!!! August found us traveling north for our friend Patti and John’s son Ross’s wedding to his sweetheart Kate. On our way we dropped Mom at Trina’s and went and saw Jamie perform in the musical “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. She did a great job!!! Hooray!!! On we went to Canton, Ohio to visit the Football Hall of Fame (another thing from Dave’s Bucket List). Then on to Pittsburgh …where we visited with his Uncle Jim and Aunt Helen, his sister Cheryl and her family…while staying with Bob and Judy. Then on to Lake Erie for the wedding……it was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! From there we went to Chicago to visit with my sister Candy and her family and my Step-Mom Rose. It was a great trip and we got to see lots of LOVED ONES!!!! We arrived home with a couple of day to spare before Connie and Pat came for their annual visit. That weekend…Labor Day, Trina and her family arrived…bringing Grammy home and Connie and Pat’s son Doug arrived. As usual we had a wonderful time with all!!! The next week Bob and Judy arrived for the DMI which got rained out by Hurricane Hannah. Bob developed pneumonia but we partied anyway with the local tournament guys…Jim Lucchese, John McCullough and Ron Hileman and their wives. A week later we took Mom to Trina’s again and were off to Blowing Rock, N.C. where we met up with Bob and Judy again. After a couple of days there, we drove south to Anderson, S.C. where we met up with friends Ted and Donna (more Pittsburgh friends) and caught the Steeler game at a Sports Bar before we headed to Seneca and Davie’s lake house. John and Carol (more Pittsburgh friends) joined us for the week of fun. While there we spent an evening with old friends Bill and Emily Bomly from our Island Green days. Later in the week Davie and his family came for a couple of days and, while Linda and the guys went to the Clemson game, us girls went to Highlands, N.C. where we introduced Elliott to a day of girlfriends shopping! Another great day!!! Monday we picked Mom up at Trina’s and took her to the Dr.’s the next day……….she had pneumonia… and that week Dave’s Aunt Helen passed and he was off to Pittsburgh while I stayed home with Mom…she ended up in the hospital and going to a nursing facility while we went on a pre-arranged trip to The Florida Keys. Believe it or not…… she enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed our time spent with friends Tom and Michelle. After partying with the Parrotheads and Latitude we headed north to have a get-together with our Florida Family at Beth’s home. Thank you Beth!!! November…I went to Trina’s for a few days……she had a project for me and the bonus was that I got to visit with the Grandkids! Thanksgiving we went to Davies’s home……..we had a great time with Linda’s family. The Saturday after….Elliott and I painted(ragged) her room and I did new window treatments. It turned out great and it was so much FUN!!!! Okay…that was a week ago and here I sit filling you in on our year! What a busy time……..three parties this week and two more next week. In between all these events I mentioned this year we partied with our local “FRIENDS” and attended numerous Indigo Social events……I’m still keeping busy in my Studio and Dave is still golfing three times a week…………….OH I ALMOST FORGOT………HE HAD HIS FIRST HOLE IN ONE LAST MONTH!!!!!. Our life is very busy and full of great people!!! We are so blessed!!!!! Now the house is all decorated and I’m planning our Christmas Eve Open House………..Please come if you can!! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year…...hope to see you all soon!
