 Current Status of China mm-Wave Standard
• Issues of “Gigabit Wireless Network in mm-Wave bands” in China
   – Exporting Issues: Test equipment in the range of 60GHz (above 50GHz)
      to be exported to China is under pending
          • It implies that products compliant to IEEE 802.11ad may not be manufactured
            or sold on China market
    – Frequency Band Issues: It is being under consideration in China WPAN
      mm-Wave project group to use the mm-Wave band from 42GHz to
      50GHz as well
          • Discussion with Chinese Authority (SRRC) is ongoing
    – Performance Issues: Product compliant to IEEE 802.11ad may not be
      able to support enough number of networks simultaneously (less than 3
      networks) in China Market
          • Discussion with SRRC to request further opening spectrum from 56GHz to
            58GHz or 64GHz to 66GHz may be needed

               Rationale for Liaison

 • Open up dialog between IEEE 802.11 60GHz and
   Chinese mmWave standards development efforts
 • Strive for commonality between standards
 • Mutual assistance in addressing regulatory bodies
 • Encourage companies and individuals to attend mutual
   meetings and actives (IEEE and CWPAN).
