                             EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

                                                   Thursday, January 22, 2009
                                                     5-6 PM       SON 3025

                   Global Health through Collaboration

Attendance: Jacque Carpenter, Kathy Fletcher, David Martin, Juliana Brixey,
Susan Parker, Carol Elliott

Minutes from October 23, 2008 Executive Board Meeting - Approved

Treasurer’s Report & Review of Auditor’s Report Treasurer’s report for
      October, November, and December was reviewed and approved.
      Adequate funding is available for the remainder of Spring. Audit
      report from Ford, Henley, Winans and Hodgkinson (CPA’s) was
      presented. The Audit reviewed the financial activities of Delta Chapter
      for the years ending on 6/30/07 & 6/30/08. The audit found no
      material modifications necessary or the Chapter to be in conformity
      with generally accepted accounting practices.

        Fall Program response Kathy Fletcher reported that approximately 35
people attended the Fall Conference on November 13, 2008 on “Nurse
Titration of Opiods at end of life in the acute care setting: An analysis of
practice patterns, knowledge and attitudes presented by Margaret Barnett,
ARNP, B-PCM. Feedback from the Business meeting and conference was
generally positive including the taco bar set up for food service.

      Informational Tea Juliana Brixey reported that the Informational tea
was held December 3, 2008 in Stoland Lounge for Graduate and
Undergraduate students. This was well attended.

      Student Excellence Award for 2008 David Martin reported that three
student excellence awards were presented on October 28, 2008 for $100
each. The award recipients were, Kasey Bowden, Arlene Higgins, and
Sounitnta Vilyvehnh.

     Funding request from KUSN David Martin reported that Jennifer
Lawrence, KUSN VP, responded that the $400.00 donation Delta Chapter
made to the KUSN Students to help with expences for the NSNA Mid Year
Convention was greatly appreciated.

       Proposal for BSN Admission Criteria M. Kathleen Brewer & David
Martin reported that at the fall meeting the decision was made to make sure
that all BSN Honors students would be invited to join Delta Chapter STT,

even if they did not qualify because of GPA. They would be added as
additional inductees.

       Spring Newsletter Jacque Carpenter reported that she is actively
putting together the Spring Newsletter. Anyone with publications, posters or
presentations is encouraged to contact Jacque Carpenter. Decided to
highlight Melinda Krautman as the feature person for the Spring newsletter.

      Spring Program Kathy Fletcher asked for ideas for the Spring program
were discussed. It was decided to pursue having Dr. Carol Goodyear-Brugh
present on her experiences related to being President of the American
Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Meeting date may need to be
changed based on speaker availability.

      Journal of Undergraduate Nursing Writing David Martin &
M. Kathleen Brewer, Lynne Connelly reported that everything is ready to go.
The Library has agreed to host the journal on D Space. Announcements will
be sent to the seniors looking for papers.

       Induction Juliana Brixey & M. Kathleen Brewer reported they are
actively working with Elaine Brinson in the Student Affairs to identify
Undergraduate and Graduate potential members, including the CRNA
students. Invitation letters will be sent when the information is received.

       Spring Elections –David Martin reviewed the current listing of Delta
Chapter Executive Board members to determined that the Vice President,
Corresponding Secretary, Graduate Counselor needed to be reelected.
Additionally two members of the Leadership Succession and one member of
the Research and Awards Committees needed to be appointed. Robyn Setter
will work on developing a slate of candidates for election.

      Nominations for STT 2009 International Awards For Nursing Excellence
The criteria for these awards were reviewed. Possible candidates were
discussed with the recommendation that we consider this further at the next
board meeting.

   Committee Reports:
   Leadership Succession – Robyn Setter, Will develop the candidate slate
   for 2009 elections
   Governance - Kathleen Brewer, No report
   Research and Awards – Susan Parker. Reviewed criteria for Science
   Pioneers contest in April 2009. Delta Chapter has participated in this with
   Mu Mu Chapter for a number of years. Agreed to continue with this
   participation at the same financial level of commitment.
