                  Situational Leadership for Personal Effectiveness

Rationale

The effective leader is the one who can convert resources into results in working with
and through others. Sometimes we observe managers work for long hours and devote
great energy in managing their people, yet they do not get top performance from them.
The results people produce largely depend on how they are led. Successful leaders are
those, who adapt their behaviour to meet the demands of their own situations. This
programme approaches the subject of leadership from a practical common-sense
perspective. It presents a logical framework – a model for use in analyzing what is
happening in any management situation, and selects the leadership style that is most
likely to produce results. The unique feature of this model is its universal applicability at
various level of management.

For Whom

The program is specially designed for managers/ executives, who have to play leadership
role in handling a department in any organization such as industry, academic, non-
governmental organizations, and cooperative organizations.

Content

       Understand the concept of leadership in terms of its dimensions
       Understand the behavior involved in various styles of leadership
       Understand the readiness level of the followers
       Understand how to match leadership styles with readiness level of the followers
       Understand the concept of over-leading and under-leading the followers and its
        consequences on the followers
       Develop required behavioral skills for various leadership styles

Programme Coordinator

Dr. M.C.Agarwal is Chairperson MDP and Executive Education at NMIMS, Mumbai.
He has done Ph.D. in Behavioral Sciences from Tata Institute of Social Sciences,
Mumbai, in the year 1972. He was a Faculty at NITIE, Mumbai for a decade in the field
of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. He has conducted
innumerable training programs for business and industry. He has several research papers
published to his credit.

He has spent two decades in Industry at senior level positions in the field of Human
Resources and Training and Development. He has worked in pharmaceutical, chemical,
petrochemicals and consumer goods industries. His exposure has been in the
multinational, Indian and family owned organizations. He has developed and conducted
several innovative programs based on the needs of the organizations.

He is actively associated with several professional bodies viz. Indian Society for Training
& Development, All India Management Association, National Institute of Personnel
Management, Bombay Management Association, Indian Management Consultants
Association, and AOTS, Japan. He has held the positions of Chairman ISTD Mumbai
chapter as well as the Vice President ISTD western region. He has been awarded ‘The
Best Teacher of Management ‘ award by BMA in the year 2004.

Fee

The program is non-residential and the fee is Rs.10, 000/- (Rupees five thousand only)
per participant for two days inclusive of service tax. If two or more participants are
nominated from the same organization, 10% discount will be given. The program fee
covers cost of training material, lunch, coffee & tea expenses.

About the Institute

The year 1981 saw the opening up of the Management Education System in Mumbai with
the decision of the University of Mumbai to allow new Management Institutes to be set
up. The pressing demand for management education, coupled with a keen sense of social
commitment on the part of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) led to the birth
of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies named after the intrepid entrepreneur
the Late Shri. Narsee Monjee. Over the years it has evolved as a citadel of management
thought and learning.

NMIMS, an ISO 9001-2000 certified University, has received the Golden Peacock
innovation Award 2007 & BMA Best Management Institute for the year Award
2006-2007. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an
autonomous body of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accredited
NMIMS University with an A Grade (score 85-90%). The University has received the
GuruKul Jyoti Award for Excellence in Education in 2006.
The University has 190 full-time faculties with a strong industry and academic
background and over 200 Associate Faculty occupying senior positions in the companies,
bringing industry experience to the classroom.

The faculty at NMIMS University has culled out the essence of their learning with these
industry interface and are now presenting this in the form of state-of-the-art modern
Management Development Programmes, designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s
industry.
