					Unix Commands and Procedures

     Mounting a EOD Read/Write           mount –v –o rw /dev/dsk/dks1d3s7 /EOD

     Mounting a EOD Read Only            mount –v –o ro /dev/dsk/dks1d3s7 /EOD

     Umounting a EOD                     umount –v /EOD

     Rebooting from a winterm            /etc/reboot or reboot

     Disk Backup Using the xfscopy command

               1)  Shut Down O2
               2)  Install 2nd Drive to be Copied into the empty slot next to the existing drive
               3)  Turn on the O2
               4)  Login as root
               5)  Type cd /usr/diamond.root/Install [ENTER]
               6)  Type ./xfscopy [ENTER]
               7)  Type Y [ENTER]
               8)  Type pkserv99 [ENTER] [ENTER]
               9)  Type cd /usr/diamond.root/Install [ENTER]
               10) Type ./xfscopy [ENTER]
                        Takes about 20 minutes
               11) When script is finished type d to shutdown the O2

     To repair a disk                    xfs_repair –n /dev/rdsk/dks0sd1s0

     Disk exerciser                      fx “dksc (0,1)” [ENTER]
                                          l (small L) [ENTER]
                                          s [ENTER]
                                          s [ENTER]
                                          /exit [ENTER]

     Entering a License Key:             Login as root
                                          tcsh [ENTER]
                                          cd /usr/usp.root/tamar/bin/ [ENTER] (on scanner)
                                          cd /usr/tamar.root/bin/ [ENTER] (on MxView)
                                          pwd [ENTER]
                                          ./setpwd [ENTER]
                                          reboot by typing /etc/reboot [ENTER]

     Entering a Diagnostic Key           Login as root
                                          cd /usr/diamond.root/diagnostic [ENTER]
                                          ./installKey [ENTER]

     Changing the Study & Series Number
             1. Log in to the scanner as “Twin7180”
             2. Open a winterm - right click select winterm, enter “letmein” as the password.
             3. Type “su root”, enter “pkserv99” as the password.
             4. Type “cd /usr/diamond.root/cfg/site”
             5. Type “jot stdsys.cfg”
             6. Edit the first and second line to reflect the desired Study Number and Series Number. Keep in mind that
                  the Study Number is a 5 digit number and the series number is a 4 digit number.
             7. Type “exit”
             8. Type “exit”
             9. Reboot the system

     Verify the existing software installed Version
             1.   Login as root.
             2.   Open a Unix Shell window (by Menu --> Desktop --> Open Unix shell).
             3.   At the prompt #, type: tcsh to enable the “[TAB] feature”.
             4.   Type: cd /usr/diamond.root/Install
             5.   Type: more Diamond.Version
             6.   Check the upper line of the file. You will get information on the Version Number.

   Enabling Diagnostic windowing:
                                           /usr/diamond.root/Scripts
                                           jot diamondstart remove the # from set open monitor windows=yes

   Saving all Bugrep files as one file:
                                           cd /var/tmp/Problems
                                           Type: tar cvf bug.tar *.*
                                           Send only the bug.tar file

   Entering Config from the Application:
                                       open a root window
                                       conf –n &

   Ejecting the Floppy:                   eject 1 5

   To see the End of a log File           tail –100 filename

   To see the more of the End of a log File
                                        tail –1000 filename | more
    Formatting the EOD from Unix
                                        1. log in as root and Insert the EOD Disk.
                                        2. Open a UNIX shell window
                                        3. Type: fx "dksc(1,3)" and press <Enter>
                                                 The system responds with fx>.
                                        4. Type: r <Enter>
                                                 The system responds with fx/repartition>
                                        5. Type: o and press <Enter>
                                        6. Press <ENTER>, <ENTER> and YES for continue?
                                                 The system responds with fx/repartition>
                                        7. Type: o and press <Enter> twice
                                                 The system responds with fx/repartition>.
                                        8. Type: .. and press <Enter>
                                                 The system responds with fx>
                                        9. Type exit and press <Enter>
                                        10. Type mkfs /dev/dsk/dks1d3s7 and press <Enter>
                                                 Formatting is complete when the prompt appears again.
                                        11. Type cd /
                                        12. Type ls –s
                                        13. If /EOD is not present, then Type mkdir /EOD and press <Enter>.
                                        14. Type chmod 777 /EOD and press <Enter>
                                        15. Mount the drive. Type mount –v –o rw /dev/dsk/dks1d3s7 /EOD and press
                                              <Enter>
                                        16. Unmount the drive. Type: umount /EOD and press <Enter>.
                                        17. Press the Eject button on the front of the EOD drive to eject the EOD disk.

   gzip                                   Used to ZIP files - Found in the /usr/sbin directory

   gunzip                                 Used to UNZIP files

   gzmore                                 Used to read files compressed with gzip (works like “more”)

   sls                                    lists files in the IRS (SCSI) disk drives, Prep and Raw data
                                           found in /usr/diamond.root/IRSbin/Scsi_shell/
     scph                                Copy IRS raw data to the local drive (o2)
                                          found in /usr/diamond.root/IRSbin/Scsi_shell/

     scps                                Copy local (o2) data to the IRS scsi drives, (after loading raw from EOD)
                                          found in /usr/diamond.root/IRSbin/Scsi_shell/

     sdiag                               Non destructive test, displays disk info. H/W check then S/W check
                                          found in /usr/diamond.root/IRSbin/Scsi_shell/

      sconfig                            Destructive test, destroys data on disk
                                          found in /usr/diamond.root/IRSbin/Scsi_shell/

      xscreen                            allows changes of screen resolutiuons

Networking Procedures

      Finding the MAC Address – The MAC Address is the system serial number. The serial number can be found from
      logging in as root, go to the TOOLCHEST, Select SYSTEM | SYSTEM MANAGER | ABOUT THIS SYSTEM. On
      6.3 IRIX the serial number is the MAC Address, one 6.5 IRIX, the MAC Address is listed.

      MAC Address can also be found by stopping the boot up and entering maintanence mode and using the “printenv”
      command”

      Display current Ethernet speed (10/100)

                 On IRIX 6.5     Type: ifconfig -v ec0
                                 You'll get the connection speed on screen.

                 On IRIX 6.3     Type: ifconfig ec0 debug
                                 Type: ifconfig ec0 –debug (for cancel debug mode)
                                 The answer will be in/var/adm/SYSLOG.
                                 Type: tail -10 /var/adm/SYSLOG

      To Configure a SGI 02 to use Full Duplex. If you want to establish a static connection other then fl00 then type fl0,
      h100, hl0 or default for auto sensing. The 02 systems are auto sensing
                                  Turn on the 02 and click stop for the maintenance.
                                  Press 5 for enter the command monitor.
                                  Type: setenv ec0mode fl00 <enter>
