                                   Dear Parents,

We are celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2nd. This day will be
included in our “I ♥ Reading” festivities. In order to promote the love
of learning, we are assigning a book report.

We are sending home the materials needed to complete a book report of a favorite book written by
Dr. Seuss. This report is due on Monday, February 28th. If you complete the project early, you may turn
it in as soon as you are done.

Please read the directions carefully before starting the report and have the students follow them as
asked.
Directions:
   1. Pick your favorite book written by Dr. Seuss (some examples are The Cat in the Hat, Horton
Hears a Who!, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, The Foot Book, and Green
         Eggs and Ham).
  2. Read the selected book. Please do not watch the movie as it may confuse you.
  3. On the hat, write your name and write the title of the story you selected. Color the hat.
  4. On the face, draw a picture that illustrates the story. Color the rest of the face.
  5. On the left leg, write the name of the author. Color the rest of the leg.
  6. On the right leg, write the name of the illustrator. Color the rest of the leg.
  7. Pick 2 characters from the story. Write the name of the first character on the arm and then
write 3 words describing that character on the fingers of the same arm (for example,
Character: Thing 1, Describing words: red, silly, messy). Color the rest of the arm.
  8. Follow the same steps on the other arm with another
     character.
  9. On the body, write & illustrate what happens at the Beginning
of the story, the Middle of the story, and the End of the
         story. Color the tie.
  10. Tape/glue all body parts together to resemble the body of
the cat from The Cat in the Hat, shown here:

Feel free to e-mail your teacher before the due date
if you have any questions or concerns.
                      Thank you,
              Miss Gennaro & Ms. Troletti
