From the Director
Dear Jackson Community-
Welcome to our 11th Spring /Summer with the Jackson Jt. Parks & Recreation
Department! It seems like yesterday when we started this department. I remember
coming to work on my first day and not having a desk or computer – I worked out of
my minivan for 6 months. The first guide was two pages of photo copied programs.
Now, look at all the wonderful opportunities we have for our community; well
maintained parks and the new Community Center. The Jackson Town Hall & Park, is yet
another jewel that we hope to increase programming at with a multitude of potential
on the “nature based” side of programming. I can’t share with you how often people
have come to Jackson for meetings or events and can’t believe all we offer for being
such a small community with such a low cost to residents (approx. $16.00 a year per
$100,000 household). In the last 6 months, we have had several families comment that they have chosen to
relocate to Jackson, greatly because of the things we offer for all ages, the beautiful parks and the wonderful
family oriented special events. Whether you’re a resident of the Town or Village of Jackson - WE ARE HERE
FOR YOU! Our mission: “To offer quality of life opportunities to people of all ages and abilities at an affordable
cost”, will continue to be our driving force. We realize that not all people and families can afford private clubs
or places like the YMCA for enrichment and physical health. Come see us at the Jackson Area Community Center
so we can find opportunities just for you. Together we will strive in “MAKING JACKSON A PLACE TO CALL
HOME”!!
I look forward to seeing you!
A Special Thank You to all of
our Volunteers that help make the
