SPA 5 Westside Partnerships for Families Collaborative
Empowering Families through Resources and Support…
“WPFF is a collaboration of agencies committed to providing resources, education and
support that nurtures and strengthens children and families”
The Collaboration was developed in 2006 and is currently funded by a grant from First 5 LA
to prevent child abuse and maltreatment. Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center
is the lead agency. The Partnerships for Families (PFF) Program is funded by First 5 LA to
assist overburdened families who are at risk for child maltreatment. We provide community-
based services and supports to help both families and communities build resilience and the
capacity to manage stressors before they become overwhelming. PFF In-Home Therapists
provide opportunities for parents and children to positively interact and learn from one
another; enhance parents’ ability to promote the optimal development of their children;
provide emergency assistance for immediate family needs; as well as referrals for additional
services.

The news I got in June
I wasn’t very happy about going back so soon,
my summer was cut and shortened by the news I got in June.

I soon accepted summer school because I had no choice,
But not before I shared my feelings and made a little noise!

I will go to summer school so I don’t get left behind,
I will focus on my work and I promise not to whine.

The news I got in June ended up not being so bad,
I got a chance to make new friends…friends I never had.
