Check list for correct phone numbers,
          e-mail addresses,
and emergency contact information.
 Fan-out will be in alphabetical order
    for any important information
   that needs to be addressed for
            8th grade only.
       This is different than the
            school fan-out.
   We do this meeting at the beginning
    of the school year because we have
    so much information.
    It is important for the 8th graders to
    know most of this information also.
             Migrated this way last year
•   Occasionally need to have conversations with 1
    group, but doesn’t pertain to others…..examples.
•   Still join together for prayer each morning as 1
    group: 2 classes with 1 common goal!
•   Diversity among who they spend the day with
               ATHLETIC SCHEDULES
   Is there a representative for the Athletic board
    from our class?
    Can you make sure that the athletic board
    knows of our events?
   Would any parent(s) be interested in being the
    class photographer to take pictures throughout
    the year?
   We could start uploading now.
     School Pictures—8th graders take an extra
    picture with blue background
   Leave 9:00 a.m. Thursday
   Car group pictures before you leave. Return
    2:00 p.m. Friday.
   We will wait outside the main entrance for
    rides.

   STUDENTS WILL NOT NEED ANY
    ELECTRONIC DEVICES WITH THE
    EXCEPTION OF CAMERAS.
   THESE ARE NOT CELL PHONES.
   AN ADULT WILL BE CONTACTED IF
    THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.
   WE WILL HAVE THE FAN-OUT IN PLACE
    IF NEEDED.
   STUDENTS DO NOT NEED ANY FOOD OR
    DRINK.
   A BOTTLE OF WATER OR 2 IS O.K IF YOU
    FEEL YOU NEED EXTRA WATER.
   THIS IS A RETREAT AND ALL FOOD AND
    DRINK WILL BE PROVIDED.
   ANY UNAPPROVED ITEMS WILL BE
    CONFISCATED AND DISPOSED OF OR
    GIVEN TO MR. MYERS UPON OUR
    RETURN TO SCHOOL.

   You will be needed for emergency situations
    only.
   You do not need to be there until 10:00, but
    you may come earlier if you like.
   are responsible for the safety of our students
    and need to keep their focus on our students.
    We would like all middle school students to
    have their planners with them in all of their
    classes.
   Students need this for a hall pass and to record
    assignments and events.
   Each student will take turns doing the class
    homework log. If there are no empty forms in
    the binder, make copies from the shared
    student/Tyner folder.
   Check the binder for papers if you have been
    absent.
   In addition, each student needs a homework
    buddy.
   8th graders, tell your parent right now who
    your homework buddy is.
   Homeroom teachers do not have the time or
    necessary information to gather all of a
    student’s work.
   Parents should be aware of who their child’s
    homework buddy is and can request that child
    to gather the required information if absent.
    Please e-mail Ms. Dean and Mrs. Tyner by 9:00
    a.m. with any requests to be given to the
    homework buddy.
   We would like to encourage students to use the future
    absence form.
   This will be obtained from the homeroom teacher and
    signed by all teachers. (form also in shared student)
   This helps keep all teachers informed of events.
    Students are responsible for contacting all teachers
    individually for missed work. I
   f you are unable to get a form for whatever reason,
    please e-mail each teacher individually.
    This would include all specials teachers.
   This will help you get ready for high school.

   Students will work on project at home . Project
    will be in Movie maker or any other program
    that can be saved as a WMA audio video file.
    The project will include 5 pictures.
   Baby picture, beginning of school, family, 8th
    grade, and what I like to do.
   Project will have intro credits, text before or on
    each picture, music, voice recording, and
    ending credits.
   After everything has been proofed by and
    parent and looks ready to show to an audience,
    Save as movie file on CD. Bring to school and
    save as movie file on Mrs. T’s CD. Project title
    should be first and last name. This is due Feb.

 8th graders are the leaders of the school

   Students do jobs on a regular basis
    and are responsible for finding
    replacements when not able to do job
   All 8th graders attend Honors night

    working fundraisers if needed.
   Adult chaperones:
   e-mail roommate choice to Mrs. T. by Dec. 1.
    (both parties)

   **We have walking groups in D.C.
   Start talking with the other parents and let me
    know by Dec.1 who is in your walking group.
   Groups should be between 4-6 total PEOPLE.
   There should be 2 adults in each group.
    If there are girls in the group, there must be a
    mom.
   If there are boys in the group, there must be a
    dad.
   E-mail groups to Mrs. T. by Dec. 1.
   We will have a meeting in January or February
    for all DC chaperones.
   This is mandatory.
   Let me know ASAP if you have any conflicts.
   Meetings will usually be on Thursday.
   You should have paid deposit by now. $ is
    the total due.
   If you do not pay that fee by Sept. 7th, I will
    assume you have changed your mind and will
    find different chaperones.
   We will have a meeting on a Thursday in
    March for all DC participants.
   The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. This will
    be in March .
   Please e-mail Mrs. T. by Jan. 3 if you have any
    conflicts with any dates in March.
   If the parent will be attending the trip, this
    parent should be in attendance.
   All participants will need 2 forms of ID for the
    Pentagon.
   School ID’s are an acceptable form.
   A state ID card or passport can be the other.
      Our school will be laying a wreath at the
    tomb of the unknown soldiers.
    If you are interested in participating in this
    special ceremony, please write a hand-written
    letter to Mrs. Tyner and place in an envelope
    with your name and Wreath laying request on
    the envelope
   Please give to Mrs. Tyner by December 1.
   A decision will be made by the March meeting.

   To get money in the student’s accounts quicker,
    I am trying to put money in as soon as I receive
    the coordinator’s report.
   All events are earning $10 per hour.
   If we end up with a surplus after the
    daddy/daughter dance and mother/son dance,
    we will refund ticket prices for anyone
    working over 70 hours total.

   Mother/Son Dance: Feb. 4, 2011 -- all 8th grade boys attend with
    their moms and all 8th grade girls work the event.
   Daddy/Daughter Dance: Feb. 5, 2011 -- all 8th grade girls attend
    with their dads and all 8th grade boys work the event.
   Students and Parents working events will be
    credited for amount worked.
   If you work an entire shift, you will be credited
    for working an entire shift.
   If you need to eat or drink while working,
    please be sure that someone is taking your
    place and eat or drink in approved areas only.
   Absolutely no eating or drinking in the kitchen
    or at concession table where you are selling.
   No freebies
   Clean up before you leave
   Ask the adult in charge if you may leave and
    tell them thank you and good-bye
   Respect people and property
   Class of 2011 fundraising ends with B-ball
    concessions
   25% to class
   Contact Mrs. T. before contacting the office
   Be considerate of financial staff’s time-count
    and have another adult verify amounts.
   Ask for report from last year’s coordinator
   PLEASE
   prepare report for next year’s coordinator-
    include previous.
