TEAM ROSTERS AND PHOTOS
In order for your team to be included in the souvenir program, it is important that you complete
the online roster form and quick facts form. Instructions on completing these forms can be found
in the Potential Qualifier Packet. A team photo and logo will also need to be submitted to Chad
Waller, cwaller@naia.org, for inclusion in the official souvenir program. The receipt deadline
for all materials is Friday, April, 29. Please do not wait until you qualify for the tournament to
send your materials – Thank you!

UPON QUALIFYING FOR NATIONALS
Each team must contact Dennis Green at the NAIA National Office immediately after qualifying
for the national tournament. During this call/email, coaches can confirm their information has
been received and be alerted to any missing information or other pertinent details.

TRANSPORTATION
Air transportation to Gulf Shores, Alabama is the responsibility of each team. Gulf Shores is 66
miles east of Mobile, AL and 40 miles west of Pensacola, FL. Air service available via major
airlines into both Mobile and Pensacola Regional airports.

Ground transportation is the responsibility of each team. Rental vans are available at airport
sites for those that fly. You are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible. Driving
directions will be provided to each team. For passenger van rental out of Pensacola or Mobile
through Enterprise please contact Mark Jackson at the following e-mail address:

Call Anthony Travel (1-866-284-NAIA) for all of your travel needs, air and ground. Anthony
Travel is the official travel agency of the NAIA.

TEAM HOUSING
Reservations are the responsibility of each team. Please contact Linda Alderman with Brett-
Robinson to make your team’s reservations. Be sure to mention the group code 1324265 when

All participating teams in an NAIA national championship must stay at the designated hotel in
order to be eligible for the event.

TEAM CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION
Team Registration will be Wednesday, May 19th from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Phoenix I,
Orange Beach, AL. Tournament packets, directions/instructions and banquet tickets will be
distributed upon check-in. TEAMS MUST CHECK IN DURING THE TIMES LISTED
ABOVE.

TOURNAMENT COACHES MEETING
All 32 participating head coaches are required to attend the coaches meeting. It will be held at
2:30 p.m. at Phoenix I, Orange Beach, AL on Wednesday, May 18th. This meeting will cover
items specific to the National Championship and include presentations by the Tournament
Committee, the Tournament Umpire-in-Chief and the Tournament Athletic Training Staff.
PARADE OF CHAMPIONS
The Parade of Champions will be held on Wednesday, May 18th at 5:30 PM at The Wharf in Orange
Beach. This event will serve as the official opening of the championship and will be immediately
followed by the Banquet of Champions. Parade instructions and diagrams will be included in the
coaches packets.

BANQUET OF CHAMPIONS
The Banquet of Champions will be at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 18th at The Conference Center
at The Wharf. The program will include the presentation of Champions of Character awards,
recognition of scholar-athletes, team introductions and guest speakers. Banquet tickets will be
distributed at team check-in. Dress for the banquet is “beach casual.”

Additional tickets for friends, families and fans may be purchased at team check-in or at The
Wharf for $25 – cash or check only please.

PRACTICES
Practices may be scheduled for Monday, May 16th through Wednesday, May 18th by calling Jeff
Hopkins at 251-269-7376 (cell) or 251-968-1420 (office). The same procedures will apply if
teams wish to practice beyond the 18th. Please bring practice balls with you as there will be a
limited amount available.

TOURNAMENT PLAY
All tournament play will be according to the 2011 NCAA playing rules with NAIA
modifications. The ground rules and tournament policies will be explained in full detail at the
coaches meeting, Wednesday, May 18th following team check-in.

TRAINING/MEDICAL SERVICES
Each team is encouraged to bring its own trainer, towels and taping supplies. Training services
will be available on-site, compliments of the University of Mobile athletic training department.
Please have your head athletic trainer complete the Medical Staff Information Form and
fax/email it to Melissa Thomas at University of Mobile (251-442-2499 or
melissat@mail.umobile.edu) by May 13th or bring it to team check-in.

TEAM GIFT EXCHANGE
The team gift exchange will take place at the beginning of your first game with your first
opponent in pool play. This gift should be something unique that represents your institution or
geographical area. Please bring a minimum of 23 items so that all team members and personnel
are included in the exchange.

HONORARY COACHES
The Honorary Coach program is a key factor in distinguishing NAIA championship events and
Gulf Shores has worked very hard to find people in the community to get involved. Each team
will be assigned an honorary coach that will “entertain” them throughout the tournament. You
will meet your honorary coach prior to or at the Banquet of Champions. Please bring a small gift
representative of your institution, such as a T-Shirt or similar souvenir to show your institution’s
appreciation for your host’s service in making your stay enjoyable. Please be considerate of
your honorary coach and treat them as a member of your “team family.”
OFFICIAL PARTY
The official party for each team participating in postseason play is 23, with no more than 18
players in uniform no more than 5 support personnel. Please see the online roster form for more
information.

CREDENTIALS
Players and team personnel will receive one tournament credential good for admission to all
games. This credential is non-transferable and may be used by the player and team personnel
only. Teams will receive up to 23 credentials for team members and support staff. Credential
distribution is based on the information provided in the on-line roster form and will be available
for confirmation at team check-in. Bus Drivers will be given free admission.

ADMISSION
Tickets for spectators will be available at the tournament. Prices are as follows:

Children 4-10          $3.00
Children 3 and under   FREE

VIDEO
There will be no electrical outlets or services available to the fans or teams to set up video
equipment, so please be prepared with your own equipment and batteries. Only tournament
committee approved media and Official Tournament Photographers/Videographers will be
allowed on scaffolding and booms.

CONCESSIONS
A full service concession stand is available at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

RADIO/TELEVISION/WEB-BLOGGING FEES
The fee schedule for the softball national championship is below:

Commercial web-blogging fee is $75 and Non-Commercial web-blogging fee is $50.
(Third party carriers other than school and originating radio station of streaming audio on Web
sites assessed the additional station feed charged)

*Extra charge associated with any additional radio stations that pick up your school’s feed.

PRESS BOX
Coaches are not permitted in press box. If requested, game statistics will be brought to you at
the conclusion of your game(s) by either a tournament committee member.
ALL TOURNAMENT SELECTIONS
Prior to each of your games, you will receive an All Tournament Ballot. At the conclusion of
your games you may nominate up to two (2) players from your team and your opponent to be
considered for the All-Tournament Team. You will give this ballot to the tournament committee
assigned to your game. The All Tournament team is a 16-member team selected by the coaches
and tournament committee and announced at the awards ceremony on championship day.

SUNDAY NO PLAY POLICY
Please come to team registration on Wednesday afternoon prepared to inform the tournament
committee as to whether your institution would permit your team to play on Sunday should
weather create such a situation.
