Job Title: Senior Manager - Member & Business Services
Middle East, North Africa & India
Reports To: Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa & India
The Senior Manager of Member & Business Services, Middle East, North Africa & India,
will be responsible for developing and managing initiatives to support the growth of SPE in
the region, with an emphasis on overseeing the Sales, Marketing, Business Development and
Member Services staff for the Middle East, North Africa & India office. This position will be
responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with existing customers, and
developing new relationships by identifying new customers. In addition, the position will be
required to provide a broad range of business development services including interaction with
all internal departments, members and customers / potential customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
Manages staff of 10-15 FTEs.
Oversee and manage direct reports involved in Sales, Marketing, Business Development
and Member Services.
Oversee, develop and report on corporate sales and marketing strategies designed to
increase revenue and offer a more diverse product offering.
Assist the Managing Director to identify and prioritise opportunities for long term business
Assist the Managing Director in maintaining relations with SPE customers in the region.
Design and implement tailor-made strategies to identify, establish and develop
aforementioned relationships in new related markets where SPE is not currently present.
Set up effective consultative meetings that will deliver required endorsements,
sponsorships, technical input and memberships for the mutual benefit of both SPE and the
Proactively marketing SPE throughout the region to encourage section and membership
growth, and to encourage greater utilization of SPE products and services.
Exploring and recommending opportunities to liaise with other professional organizations,
oil and gas operating / service / supply and manufacturing companies, government officials
and other potential business partners on matters relating to the Society’s interests and
Oversight of SPE activities including meetings, conferences, exhibitions, Distinguished
Lecturer Series, and Regional Distinguished Lecturer Series.
Attend select SPE and other industry events for prospecting opportunities.
Provide administrative support for SPE committees, membership activities, section officer
conferences, and SPE officers and directors as required.
Assist in the development of new sections in appropriate geographical locations to better
serve SPE members and to develop new membership.
Provide information required by the Director Finance and Administration for SPE financial
planning, budgeting and forecasting reports.
Become familiar and maintain knowledge of all aspects of SPE services and activities by
contributing to job functions related to marketing, sales, business development and
Ensure global standards of quality are met for SPE events.
This position has responsibility for the oversight of all Sales, Marketing, Business
Development and Membership Services staff. This position carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include recruiting, training, planning, assigning, and directing work;
coordinating staffing/project schedules; addressing complaints and resolving issues, as well
as provide recommendations for process improvements. This position is responsible for
employee performance evaluations.
Additional supervisory responsibilities include managing projects and guiding staff to
manage projects efficiently, including project definitions, work plans, documentation,
scheduling, control methods and status reporting, as well as promote and maintain a team

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in business management or related field and at least 2 years
related experience in a management role with an exhibition, PR or similar firm. Experience
in Business Development, Sales, Marketing and oil & gas industry knowledge. Association
experience would be advantageous but not essential.
Ability to read, and interpret contracts, marketing literature, general business financials and
professional journals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak
effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Knowledge of Arabic
would be an advantage.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions and
percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
