2009 Reinvention Symposium
Date: September 14-16, 2009
Place: Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle WA

The New Reality: Expanding the Architect’s Role
through Outreach, Collaboration and Innovation.

When will the economy get better? Or will it—heaven forbid—get worse? So much
of what we felt we knew is unknown to us now. No matter which way the Dow
points, one thing is for sure: How architects work and with whom are changing at
light speed. The model for nearly everything you do is being rewritten. Leaner and
smarter staffs, more productive and entrepreneurial collaborations with other
people and other companies—these are the orders of this new day. It’s not just
―more with less,‖ it’s also ―more with more‖—more complexities, risk, and
innovation than you ever thought possible.

Join us for the sixth annual Reinvention Symposium and find out how architects
are already redefining the scope and capacity of their practices. In the new
economy flexibility, engagement, and a solid grasp on value are all important.
Architects are uniquely poised to retool, rebuild, and reshape their communities
from the ground up. In the next productivity boom, architects won’t just serve the
same dull masters; they’ll blaze a new and better path ahead.

Reinvention Partners with Three Top
Architecture Organizations

New for 2009, Reinvention Symposium will collaborate with three premier
architecture organizations: the Congress of Residential Architecture (CORA), the
Custom Residential Architect Network (CRAN), and the AIA Seattle chapter,
giving sponsor attendees access to a larger universe of qualified attendees during
their three days at Reinvention. Special features of this partnership include a
Sunday evening Awards event with AIA Seattle and CRAN, a collaborative
charrette hosted by AIA Seattle and CRAN, and the annual CORA meeting
concluding the symposium.

Congress of Residential Architecture
CORA, the Congress of Residential Architecture, an independent organization of
residential practitioners is dedicated to improve the quality of residential
architecture through promoting dialogue among home owners, builders, and

awareness of the value of working with local AIA Architect for residential design
projects. The network is part of AIA National’s Housing and Custom Residential
Knowledge Community. CRAN will collaborate with AIA Seattle on several events

Awards ceremony, open to AIA Seattle, CRAN, and CORA members and

AIA Seattle
AIA Seattle is the seventh largest urban component of AIA National. AIA Seattle
provides the architecture community with resources and relationships to make a
difference through design. AIA Seattle will partner with CRAN on several events
held at Reinvention. A Sunday evening Future Shack Awards ceremony and a
