Job Specification
We are seeking a full time senior administrator with outstanding secretarial skills to assist
us in reaching our aim of helping very able young people get into leading universities. To
achieve this objective we provide support, courses and online activities for 14 to 19 year
old students and within an advisory service we work with their schools and colleges to
improve the quality of teaching and learning.

The Office Manager will be based at our Cambridge Centre head office and conference
facility at Foxton near Cambridge where we run residential and non-residential courses for
students and manage an outreach programme at schools, colleges and universities.

The job purpose is to maintain current systems and establish new ones that ensure that
the administrative support needs of all our educational managerial team are met in a timely
and efficient way.

Line Management
The line manager will be the Centre Director.

Job Details
The Office Manager will be supporting initiatives that set out to:

a.   maintain our reputation as the national expert in post-16 Gifted and Talented education
b.   develop a new programme to support students from less advantaged backgrounds gain
     access to leading universities

Specific roles include:

        Administration of the new Villiers Park Scholars Programme, including setting up
         the systems, liaising with a team of home-based project leaders, and providing
         support as required for Cambridge Centre and regional activities
        Line management of the Office Administrator, allocating work to her/him and to
         other members of the administrative support team
        Prepare correspondence, materials and programmes; welcome and provide support
         to the tutors and delegates taking part in Cambridge Centre activities
        Provide first line support for the IT equipment in the Cambridge Centre conference
         facilities and work with the Communications Manager to ensure that efficient
         databases are maintained and enhanced to support Trust activities
        Ensure that efficient office processes are in place, maintain computer records and
         files, and carry out general administrative work associated with running a busy
        Respond to email and telephone enquiries

Person Specification
Villiers Park Educational Trust has a reputation for excellence and applicants will need to
possess a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience to ensure that our high
quality provision is maintained.

Specifically the post holder will have:

   Experience of leading the administration of a new project from scratch including setting
    up the systems, liaising with the management team, and dealing with a wide range of
    outside organisations and individuals
   Experience of line managing other administrative staff
   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an attention to detail
   Accurate keyboard skills with high level computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Word,
    Excel and Access/database
   The capacity to work in a team, sharing ideas and responsibilities
   The capability to work independently to meet deadlines
   The flexibility to adapt to the needs of a small office environment
   An aptitude to work accurately with figures
   A pleasant and confident approach to delegates and external contacts
   A driver with own car is essential

Terms and Conditions
   Salary range £22-24k per annum
   Working hours 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday; a small amount of evening work
    may be required
   Contributory pension scheme is available
   Free staff lunches on most working days
