Organizational Description: Zeum: San Francisco’s Children’s Museum is a hands-on,

Position Description: Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Experience
and Programs (DEP) is a key leadership position responsible for the overall strategic vision,
management and integration of Zeum’s exhibits, visitor experience, and education programs.
The DEP provides guidance, support and mentorship to a team of five managers who are
responsible for collaborating to generate the Zeum experience. This team includes the:
Education Manager, Exhibits Manager, IT Manager, Visitor Experience Manager, and Youth
Program Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:
    Serves as key member of organizational leadership team, collaborating with Board of
    Directors, ED, Director of Development & Marketing and Director of Finance & Operations
    Oversees and provides vision for all exhibits, visitor experience, and education programs
    with emphasis on executing Zeum’s strategic shifts designed to generate transformational
    Provides leadership, guidance and support to team of five managers in a manner that
    promotes collaboration, open communication, creative problem-solving and professional
    Fosters relationships with strategic partners who strengthen and complement Zeum’s
    exhibits and programs
    Builds credibility and Zeum’s reputation as a thought leader in creativity, collaboration
    and communication for youth and families
    Collaborates with the ED and Director of Development & Marketing to raise funds and
    develop broad support for Zeum’s programs and initiatives

Management Responsibilities:
   Leads and supports team of five managers in a way that is consistent with Zeum’s core
   values of creativity, collaboration, communication, integrity and inclusiveness.
   Ensures that Zeum’s mission and strategic goals are integrated in all programs and exhibit
   Oversees the administration of the department, including a departmental budget equal to
   roughly half of the organizational budget (currently $1.7M), as well as operations plans,
   evaluations, contracts, personnel-related issues, and hiring and directing key program
   Provides leadership, expertise and inspiration to Zeum’s Director Team and Board of
   Directors and supports fundraising, marketing and special events as needed.

   MA/MFA/MBA or equivalent desired
   Minimum of 5 years’ non-profit management experience in museum/arts administration,
   exhibition development, and/or education

   Must be an exceptional role model and coach with a demonstrated ability to lead a team
   to accomplish goals in a supportive, collaborative and empowering manner
   Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving skills - must have a positive, creative
   approach to both and be an imaginative, flexible and resourceful individual
   Demonstrated ability to synthesize ideas, develop effective plans and execute them with
   Knowledge of trends in the use of multimedia arts and technology programming geared
   towards children, youth and families
   Demonstrated knowledge of San Francisco’s community of cultural/youth-oriented
   institutions and expertise communicating and working with diverse audiences and
   learning styles
