City Information A Message from the Mayor,

Remember the great Ice Storm of January, 2010? The City sure does!

City of Lake View We remember the miles and miles of the City’s rural electric lines that were

305 Main Street laying on the ground. We are still reliving the Ice Storm as the lines have

PO Box 18 been weakened and are subject to continued problems. But from this huge

Lake View, Ia. 51450 natural disaster comes a great long-term benefit: Lake View has been

Ph: (712) 657-2634 awarded a grant from FEMA to reconstruct 42 miles of our overhead electric

Fax: (712) 657-2744 system. This also includes placing portions of three lines underground. This

$2.2 million grant from FEMA will pay for 75% of the project cost. The State

lvcity@iowatelecom.net of Iowa pays 10%, and the City pays the remaining 15%. This project will

www.lakeview-ia.com beef-up these overhead lines with larger poles more closely spaced, and with

larger conductor.

The City has hired Stanley Consultants, Inc. to do the engineering

work on this project. It will take several months to prepare the plans for the

John Westergaard, Mayor project. If all goes well, we hope to take bids during the winter and begin

City Council construction next spring.
